Watching the tom turkeys strut these past few weeks has been quite amazing. When the sun strikes the iridescent feathers, they shimmer and glow with a bronze , green metallic sheen.
I was curious about their face and neck features as I noticed that some photos the colors were different. I learned that the face, neck and caruncles may range from blue to bright red to flesh tone or white. They change in colors according to the birds moods as they have the ability to control and relax small blood vessels in those areas.
Thank you for looking and hope you enjoy the turkeys
As always your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Those are excellent Tom Turkey images! They put on a show of tail feathers for you too

I really like the female flying away to view, that is special and lovely.
What a gorgeous set of this underappreciated bird, Birdie! The TIF (Turkey In Flight) shot is a rare thing indeed, very cool!
Such wonderful colors and looks you got from these too. Well done.
