The GM 600mm is largish and not light but it delivers plentifully. Let's start with a perched shot since I could get away without running the file through a noise reduction software...

I have never been able to get the shot of an osprey's talons touching the water. That's why I wish the A1II could do 60 FPS.

What s great shot! And 1/50 second for the owls?? You have very steady hands!

I most want 60 or 120FPS for the diving Osprey and Kingfishers. I've managed a few lucky talon or beak just touching water over the years after many, many dives. With the osprey 30FPS is often only good for a shot a foot above the water and the next frame the osprey half submerged. Total fluke when you get them just breaking the surface.

I find 1/50s is about my limit with the 300GM handheld to get an acceptable keeper rate for each burst as long as the owl is still. When I go down to 1/40 or 1/30 I get a few sharp but not enough to guarantee a keeper for each burst.

Beautiful! There seems to have been an abundance of Lazuli sightings here this year. More than normal, I believe.

Palm warbler. Love shooting this species of warbler because it has a tendency to feed very low or on the ground hopping up to low perches every now and then to sing his song.

I thought we were in the same neighborhood with all these nice shots. Same state is close enough.

thanks and haha yeah, I'm out in El Paso so yeah complete opposite side of the state! When I lived further east I did visit Corpus Christi area and the RGV a few times, would have loved to move to San Antonio instead to be closer to that area but oh well, TX is still a great spot for birds. Hoping to get the desert specialties out here for sure though.
