p.2 #1 · Rumored "Exclusive First specs of the new Lumix S1rII"

This could be a very compelling camera. I like Panasonic camera color the best out of all. with 5.7~9.4M EVF and all the sigma L mount lens, I will buy it. If it offers similar AF performance as latest Z, I can settle with L mount only. (but need keep at least one Z body for 58noct and 135 plena)

For my own reference since I don't know Panasonic cameras:

Yeah..... Nah. Done with this Muppet. His testing methodology and claims are highly flawed. This is the guy who measured a focal length comparison at minimum focus indoors instead of infinity.....

IMX366AJK square sensor? I see specs: chip size as approx 42mmH x 33mmV and image size = Diagonal 43.3mm, Type 2.7 ?

You are right, I misread square pixel array for square sensor.

It's interesting. But the read out speed will be critical, for me. I don't expect it to be a replacement for my Sony A1mk2 but it might make a viable casual sports and wildlife body. I will pick one up. I already have all the longer Sigma lenses.

Personally, all I need from L mount is for Leica to add EFCS to the SL3. Occasional shutter shock is my only gripe. With the extensive lens line up my A1s are still going to be my dedicated wildlife rig. Sony should be adding a 400-800 this month plus they have more primes available than the single Sigma. But my 60-600 or 500 would get a new lease on life if the S1R2 has good readout speeds.

EFCS or better, silent shooting would be ideal for my SL APO glass.

It's also possible or likely that much of the speed is for video. I wish them well but that's not for me. I'll wait until we know about the sensor.

I no longer trust any review or video review on color only because I know this is very personal and viewing video on unknown display profile setting and color setting will not give any meaningful insight.
For color, I generally feel it requires extensive shooting and editing to form a preference rating certain camera over the other. and I give high priority to skin tone. (Again this can be subjective)
Not want to make a big deal out of it. In general, I like Panasonic color.

IMX455 also looks interesting sensor with 16bit 61M output. I guess this will be next landscape camera sensor for Sony and Nikon. It should be better than current 61M Sensor. Unfortunately, the readout speed is still stuck at >1/4s at 16nit mode.

Compare these two sensor, I actually prefer IMX366 for my own use. I just hope panasonic can offer more still image readout options so that we can have option to shoot 16:9 35M file at 12bit with 1/60S readout speed. On paper, this camera is good enough for me as solid update from SL2. Hand holding high resolution mode will be crazy good for this one that can beat 100M MF output I bet.

If rumor is true, this is one of few cameras in last 5 years or so introduced I want to preorder.

I am a photographer and I do not care about video at all. The S5R II feels like a solid downgrade from S1 series and is in all aspects a S5 camera. Worse strap lugs, no top display, missing buttons everywhere, smaller body, worse rear display, bad control placement etc. The only thing this has going is a potentially better AF system for moving subjects, otherwise it is purely an expensive downgrade for my use. Oh well, at least I save money by not having the slightest motivation to upgrade

I'm seeing exactly the opposite, the S1R felt to me like somebody added an EVF to a DSLR and made it L mount. It's the size & weight of a D850, but slower and with a slightly lower performing sensor. Aside from IBIS and better manual focus aids, none of the advantages of mirrorless are there. Plus it's missing usable C-AF, pre-capture, and handheld high-res (which I use primarily for DR expansion when I have a body that supports it).

The S1RII on the other hand has everything I actually want, does all of it better than the S1R but in a reasonably sized package and all I give up is a bit of rear display spec and a mostly useless top display (something I never used on either the G9 or my current Z7, since the rear display always gives more info)
