I've just opened a new XT-5, and when it is set to electronic shutter only I'm still getting a full screen blackout when I depress the shutter. My understanding was that with the electronic shutter only I should not be seeing the blackout. The settings are AF-S, single-point focus, aperture priority at f2.8 with shutter at 1/200. The lens is 18mm 1.4.
I assume I'm missing a setting of some sort - or misunderstand how the electronic shutter works. Can anyone set me straight?
Do you have clarity on as an adjustment for the jpegs? If so, that dramatically slows write times, and the screen may stay blacked out due to that AFTER capture.
No, clarity and other manual image adjustments are all off; just the default JPG. I switched to the smallest size and lowest quality JPG setting and it works exactly the same as the Lossless Raw + JPG Fine setting.
If you have the XT-5, do you not get blackout shooting single shots in electronic shutter?
My X-T5 has a quick "blink" for single shots using either mechanical or electronic shutter. I wouldn't call it a black out, its a split second kind of timing. I'm so used to it that I would have said it wasn't there until I specifically looked to answer your question.
