Hey Gang,
I was thinking about dusting off my ol Mamiya 645 Pro TL kit and was wondering if there are ant digital backs that are compatible with this camera? I sure the digital backs for the AF version do not work on this body. Thanks for any advise!
Adapter plates were pretty common when "medium format" backs were starting to gain traction. I'm sure there's some old, used "frankenplate" adapter you could buy somewhere, but honestly you'd be throwing time and money trying to digitize a system from the very much film era.
645-sized sensors are $$ or very old by now. At best I would guess you might find some 44x33 sized back that might work on a Mamiya 645 Pro TL.
If you want to shoot that format, buy a used Fuji GF body, adapt your M645 lenses and have fun.
I think the easiest way to use some of your kit would be to be to get a Mamiya AF-d body and some of the early Phase backs - that way you could at least use your lenses. I have seen some listed in the classifieds upon occasion. I dimly remember adaptations to Pros, I think. There were plates and cables involved.
I have the 120 and 220 backs as well as the polaroid back for my 645 Pro TL and good many lenses, winders and viewfinders. Just thought it would be fun to try a digital back without the expense of a new body and lenses like the 645 AF. At one time I thought the Phase brand backs were compatible.
Thanks for the replies! Might have to do some more research on the options mentioned.
