p.1 #1 · Syoptic 50 0.95 - anybody know this lens?

Hello everyone,

On different online shops (ebay etc), there is a Syoptic 50 0.95 lens available (for L/E/RF/Z-Mount). Is there somebody who knows this lens or did ever use it?
I can't find anything on the internet about this lens, apart from the manufacturer's specifications.

I have the Syoptic 50 1.1 and I like it for its pleasing bokeh rendering.
So it would be interesting to see how the 0.95 performs in terms of bokeh and sharpness.

Any ideas?

Best regards
Mathias

For the same reasons, I also have the Syoptic 50/1.1 but I've never heard of a f/0.95. There was nothing on the Internet, just one offer on
Ebay.
Looking at the sample pictures, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high.

Earlier Syoptic (?) lenses were sold under a plethora of brand names:
"Syoptic (aka Mr.Ding), sometimes as ARTRA LAB, Andoer, JABS, etc"
Maybe you can find comments, images or a review of the lens under another name?

I did not find anything one the brandings ARTRA LAB, Andoer, JABS.
The only lens which seems to be similar is a lens called "Kaxinda 50mm f0.95".
I've never heard of this one either and there are no reviews.

What a pity that there is no further information on this lens. The pictures one the offer are very small. Perhabs I will ask the manufacturer to send me some sample photos.

I found a thread on Dpreview from 2019.
https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4393894#forum-post-62679929

Nothing on this lens obviously but the brand name Kaxinda.
Contacting the vendor or even manufacturer seems like the best approach.
If it wasn't for Bastian Kratzke, I'd have never known of the Syoptic 50/1.1's existence.

A quick search on Bilibili, this lens surfaced around 08/2023. Very few reviews. I believe they are officially under Kaxinda name as you can find that exact lens on Taobao. From the various low res shots, the field curvature problem is there.

On the other hand, you might want to check out the new Brightin Star 50 0.95 Mark 2, just released in 12/2024. From a lot of reviews, I observed minimal curvature of field. MTF chart shows both Sat and Tan lines are quite close to each other throughout the frame (smoother bokeh). The center resolution looks to be Ok from actual photos as well. There are other nice improvements over the Chinese 50 0.95 (e.g. built-in hood, even spacing aperture ring, etc.)

Looks to be the 7Artisans 50mm 1.05 to me with a different branding and f/0.95 instead of f/1.05 slapped on it.

My search skills seem to suck.
A new improved version is interesting but all I found was info about the first version (also at Brightin Stars official site). Do you have a link or two with information and a review?

It's a bit hard to tell if some of the reviews are for version 1 or 2. That shows after a while though. The second version of this lens is interesting. I see a lot of flare. The cat's eye bokeh is pronounced (comes with the size) but i have no idea about when the bokeh circles becomes more rounded. The 9'blade aperture is clearly visible in situations with bright out of focus spots.

The weight seems to be around 950 grams. I'm not sure about that as I can't read the language(s) and the weight is not always declared. (That alone is a dealbraker for me. Well, what can one ask for?) I would be happy to try this lens, perhaps not so happy carrying it around.

Thank you for the links!

One reviewer measured the lens, with a filter, at around 770 grams, matching the Mitakon ver. III without the hood. While cat's eye bokeh is an issue with all 0.95 lenses, this new lens has less pronounced field curvature, resulting in smoother bokeh at the edges and corners for long-distance shots. However, without a direct comparison, this isn't entirely conclusive.

Have you shot with other 50 0.95?
