Hey nice update! Shutter getting buffed to 1/1000, preorders to lock the price got extended (they need the funding). Retail price is going up, but still on target for shipping this year.

Definitely a promising update that there may actually be a camera at the end of the road.
Amusing that the #1 customer feature request is set the flash to off, modern life really hates the idea of auto fill flash!

It's not to default to off, per se, it's just to remember what we set it to! Unlike the Yashica that likes to ass-blast you with flash whether fill is needed or not.
Hm yeah some thoughts:
1) Having people sign up to view the single (!) sample image available is not a good look
2) ..and so is asking people to purchase the camera while having shared just a single sample image
3) ..while at the same time announcing another delay of 3 months
Speaking of said sample image:
It is a bad image. Camera missed focus, boring light, looks like some motion blur. Maybe this makes it sort of a fair representation of what many users can expect to get most of the time? But to me it doesn't inspire confidence in the quality of the lens or autofocus and certainly doesn't want to make me purchase the camera as per 2)
Now they did say that they'll release additional sample images. And the discount only expires November 29th. So there is some hope that we'll get some better images and more details in the meantime..
On autofocus: clearly missed focus on the sample image and in the video you can hear the motor making unhealthy noises when he's focusing the camera. Something is clearly not working as it should. Probably the reason why they delay shipping the camera, but oh boy does it not make me want to buy the camera in its current state..
On design: It's chunkier than the original render. Quite chunky indeed. But tbh I don't think I care all that much. If it was working well and the lens is good, then it can also be a chonky boi. After all this is their first camera and they will learn a lot to improve future designs, but they need to sell this one first.
The project still seems worth supporting in my view, but man they need to improve their communication A LOT if they want me to put my money down. I expect quite some backlash after today, and I'll wait and see how they react to that, before deciding whether I'll redeem the discount or not..

Mass producing stuff in polycarbonate is fine, there is plenty of great plastic stuff, but the reason why the hip consumers like the Contax is because it feels and looks like premium industrial design. If you can't provide the advanced functionality OR the tactile object je ne sais quoi then what is your market advantage?
The thing is those fancy high end metal cased p&s have the same consumer quality plastic interior bits that the cheap/normal p&s cameras have.
We are paying for the illusion of quality, admittedly with a very pleasant handling experience.
My regular plastic shelled p&s cameras don't feel cheap or chintzy. They just feel like how a p&s camera should.
