p.1 #1 · Q2/Q3/Q3 43 owners - how has the weather sealing held up?

As we head into winter, I’m curious to hear real-world experiences from Q owners on how well it holds up in wet conditions/inclement weather?

Q2/3 are rated IP52 against dust and water spray from a single direction (above) = light rain/snow with low wind
SL2/3 are rated IP54 against dust and water from any direction = heavier rain/snow with strong wind

Not many camera companies giving their gear IP ratings, so that should give you confidence if you follow the rating description.

I've used the Q2 when it was snowing without issue, but I avoided getting it soaked.

[corrected for typo, should be IP54]

SL3 IP54.

I fell into the CO River with mine over my shoulder and for over 10 seconds it was submerged with no damage whatsoever.

True but I used to regularly wash my SL(601) andSL2 with Leica lenses under the beach shower when shooting a wedding portrait shoot at the beach. You’re supposed to have a filter on the 24-90 to complete the sealing and I never even thought about it being an issue. Sure freaked out the wedding party though.

At the Oz launch of the SL(601) there were Leica Australia people pouring bottles of water over the camera and 24-90. SO it’s a pretty robust system.

Thanks for the insights! It sounds like they should hold up pretty well in mild wintery conditions
