Congratulations to Colin F for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 3 votes - View Previous Winners
Back in July, I announced on FB and IG that due to the progression of my Motor Neuron Disease (PLS) I had come to the end of my photography efforts. My balance & walking had become so poor that I simply couldn’t walk on any trails, beaches etc. It was a very sad time, and strange to not do what I loved to do for the past ten years. The Summer and early Fall went by with a feeling that a big part of me was dead & gone.
I had tried my regular walker/rollator on flat, easy trails before, but it was useless; just not designed for anything other than perfectly flat surfaces. A few weeks ago however, I found and purchased a used “All Terrain” walker, and that has allowed me to get back out to some (but not all) of my old haunts! Smelling the Fall leaves again was intoxicating, and sitting on the walker at the shoreline hearing the “squeaky-toy” sounds of the American Wigeons had me feeling like I was back from the dead.
I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to use this A/T walker, as my progression still continues (I get my first electric wheelchair this coming week), but I will continue as long as I can. Here’s a few recent shots from my OM-1 and 150-400 lens. *Some shots are with the 2X extender, as well as the built-in 1.25 extender engaged! Crazy.
You may have lost some mobility, but your photographic talent continues to amaze and inspire. It's good to see you posting again. You're an FM treasure.
Colin, it’s absolutely heartbreaking. But I am so glad you found a way that gets you back out there for now! I love hearing you describe coming back alive from the sights, sounds, and smells. Love your image set, easy vote for me! Thoughts & prayers are with you.
Superb set of images!
The timing on the Merganser swallowing the fish is perfect.
The Wood Ducks interacting is a beautiful image.
I hope the A/T walker greatly extends your photography. We enjoy seeing your work and it's obviously important to you.
Sooooo stinkin' glad to see you resurface Colin What you have overcome is really and truly inspirational, your talent in photographer shines again.
Wood Ducks, we have seen a ton of them they are beautiful, however, your capture of male and female really moves me
Subjects and images are refreshingly beautiful!

Wow! There aren't enough exclamation points to put after WOW for these images. Truly stunning.
You are obviously extremely talented. Best wishes to be able to work through your difficulties and continue doing something you enjoy and are so good at.
