That's pretty much my take on it too. I already have a 600GM, switching it out is a non-story for me. Upon getting a big prime, I think most folks are going to ride or die with that system for a long time. Which is why I'm always a bit skeptical of folks saying they're jumping across systems due to a product release.......
I know a few people who jump systems regularly. All but one is a wealthy dude enjoying retirement. They take heavy losses. I think for them, switching systems and trying different pieces of kit is a large part of the hobby. The other person is a professional wildlife photographer who switched from Sony to Nikon for the 400TC, but switched back when his Z9 failed him a few times.

At what FPS does it become video? Is only single shot considered photography?
Plucking frames from video is entirely different than shooting at higher FPS.
Good video is shot at very slow shutter speeds (usually not much faster than 1/120s) and you can't shoot good video and then pluck sharp stills out of it for action photography.
You can use a fast SS for your video and then pluck sharp frames but the video ends up in the trash.
But you can only pluck lower res jpegs out of a video. Nowhere near a 50MP RAW file you get shooting stills at a fast FPS.
So let's put the picking stills from video thing to rest. It is not a valid argument. And even if one was so inclined to print or post their photos extracted from video then that still is a photograph.
That brings me back to what FPS you consider to not be photography?
Also which technologies do you consider not to be photography? AF? Auto-metering? Auto-WB? Subject recognition? Pre-capture? Where do you draw the line?
I shot with the Z8 for 4 months after being a Sony guy. I thought the AF and IQ was a notch below the A1. When Sony released the 300 2.8 I made the switch back to Sony. Nikon's new lightweight line up is nice. I tested the 800,600,and 400 4.5 and they all were quite good. I also owned the original R5 and at the time the new lightweight teles hadn't been released yet. I do think the Sony 2-6 is the best zoom in the price range.
Any comparison of the Sony a1ii must be done with the Canon R1 that definitely beats the former in AF capabilities and ergonomics while ignoring the 24 megapixels sensor. Just got the a1ii and last month had the opportunity to play with the R1 side by side. Why are not moving? 1. The excellent Sony 50 megapixels sensor allowing for cropping without much lost in image quality and 2. Large investment in Sony lenses that are excellent. Both are in about the same price range.

So what camera lens combo are you shooting today? Is it the A1 or A1 II and the 300 gm?
New Sony A1 II owners, please help
I have just received my Sony A1 II. It does have the charger but does not come with a charger cable. Is this normal ? What sort of cable do I use for this charger ? I prefer to charge my battery full before starting up my new camera just in case the battery is low and the camera stops in the middle of setting up.
Thank you in advance
I read the setup guide, it says I need to use USB type-C. I happened to have a USB type-C cable and the power plug from my iPad Air. I use this combo to hook up this charger and the charging light is lit. So it looks like it is charging I hope.

Thank you in advance Guide says you need a usb-c charger of at least 30w for it to work properly though I found my 20w iPhone charger seemed to do okay in the end I bought a 30w charger off amazon for £15. It nice to have the twin charger but in a way the older single mains powered one is easier to use as you don't need the additional charger

Could you please post the amazon link that you've ordered. I will just order the same thing. Thank you so much
