During the Northern Indian festival of Dussehra, a palanquin is used to carry the effigies of the village Gods from remote mountainous areas. In this series I focus on the palanquin bearers. They are said to gain superhuman strength directly from the God which they carry. Sometimes the movements of the palanquin are unpredictable, as the Gods may influence the palanquin to sway, swerve or lunge in sudden ways. I had to be extra alert whenever I went near them to get a photo. The most amazing thing I witnessed in this respect was when two Gods would interact with each other, mostly with the palanquin leaning sideways and the Gods seemingly bowing to one another.
