p.1 #1 · Twilight Astrophotography

Ventured out a couple evenings ago for some night astro photography landscapes and captured twilight while there was colorful sunset afterglow illuminating the clouds.

Thanks for the positive feedback Douglas and others! At first, I saw the clouds as an impediment to what I was trying to capture, but in the end they really added to the overall scene in a good way I think.

I actually captured that too, a little while later! That was my actual intention to get the comet, and to be honest couldn't see it very well and was semi-guessing where it would be. In post is where I could really see if I got it and these two were my favorites.

Cool shots. I like the color in the clouds in #1, but prefer the framing with the whole dead tree in #2

Enjoy shooting MW at sunset in the fall. Always nice to capture the sunset colors and MW together. Also lots of great comets shots still to be had with longer exposures. That last shot has so many satellites in it. It has become so frustrating to shoot astrophotography now with all the satellites.

I also enjoy photographing the MW in fall when you can get some nice images with it balanced with the dusky sky. I agree about too many satellites, however in this case those are meteors from the Taurid Meteor shower. That frame is from a time lapse I had set up and the meteor shower was very intense.

Very nice. I find the color saturation a bit over the top. I do find color choices when editing difficult on web posted photos. Much subtly is lost with sRGB and lower resolution, and of course some viewers will always compliment higher color levels more.

A focus stack would sharpen the foreground. I do like the foreground as silhouette in these photos.

it looked like in #2, there appears to be something in the shape of the comet between 11 & 12 o'clock above the tall tree in the fg. the location of the comet does not appear to be correct so perhaps just a shape of a cluster of stars.

all 3 images are great capture.

That is a comet and it is much easier to see in the third image. It has been visible for weeks and a nice addition to MW shots for the last few weeks.

Thanks Al!, I like the warm colors as well. Usually light pollution is a spoiler but in this case the lights from a small nearby town's lights created the warm amber glow. Appreciate your comment!
