Does Nikon have a tendency to sell crap items or is it more like thieves like to buy Nikons with stolen credit cards and then sell for physical cash?
I am hoping it is the latter.
The worst website credit card problems I had with various credit cards were ALL camera or boat related. Never in other arenas. I had problems with B&H (yes, really, 4x), and Defender (2x) (a marine goods website) plus some others I can't quite remember exactly at this point.
I was told a higher-than-average amount of CC fraud. They didn't provide details but I assume that means stolen CC's.
Same here. CC declined the first time but Apple Pay went the first time without issue. $1200 for a Z7ii is a nice deal.

I wanted the 600mm but couldn’t get my credit card to go through and tried 3 times. When that didn’t work I used Apple Pay and it worked right away.
Dang! Zf out for delivery already! Nikon and UPS are not playin' today! Fingers crossed for 0 shutter count.
Edit: Just dropped off. Not a zero SC this time, 1421, camera is clean though. Will have to give it a thorough function check.
Edit AGAIN!: The camera has a mind of it's own! Takes photos randomly, and also changes display settings on it's own! It's Haunted!! Needless to say it's going back. Check over your purchases very carefully!

Last night, I tried many times to try to buy the Z8, but card declined. I tried 3 different cards, all declined. I called each cc company and they said it should now go through. Each one declined again. I finally got one that looked like it was going to go through when I was greeted with a message saying, "Z8 is no longer available." Bummer
The eternal optimist in me told me to check again this morning to see if they had replenished the supply of Z8s. No Z8, but they had the Z8/24-120 kit, which is what I really wanted to begin with. CC was declined. I called the cc company and they said try again. This time it worked and I made the purchase. I received an email from Nikon this afternoon saying the camera/lens is on the way. It was a frustrating process, but at least it finally worked.

Wow, my 1.4xtc arrived today. Nicely packaged, looks brand new. Just threw it on my 70-180 f/2.8. Wow! Spectacular 100-250 mm f/4 lens. Can't wait to drop it on some longer primes...

I know it’s not a camera, but those Aculon 7X50 binoculars are perfection for binocular-astronomy. Or night time use in general. I have 2 pair which are both from a previous refurb sale, when I use a pair I always wish I could take photos through them, especially of C/2023 as it has passed by. This 7X50 config isn’t always available refurbished.

So sorry to hear, very unfortunate. It seems like "refurbished" in Nikon-speak just means we put it into a white or brown box and ship it out. Really makes me pause quite a bit anymore to purchase "refurbished" from Nikon. Had good luck in the past, but had to return an obviously optically flawed 100-400 on my last purchase. Then I decided I'd better not purchase a 100-400 from Nikon refurb for awhile in case that lens makes it's rounds back and forth to Nikon refurb!
All buyers should immediately check any refurb item for sure. This is also good advice for brand new items I suppose.

My 70-180 arrived in a plain brown box with a "Nikon refurbished" sticker on it, packed in bubble-wrap. Lens looks great, no signs of use, and appears to function correctly. I'm glad there's a 90 warranty, just in case.
I did have the credit card issue everyone else seems to have (is Nikon that untrustworthy?). After OKing with my CC company, I had to log out of my account, log back in, and was able to complete the purchase.

I was able to get an order in for the zf but same as most others...my cc declined it at first, but was easy enough to clear up. I have not used Nikon refurbished before but others seem to have mostly good experiences.

Received the Z7II refurb purchased a few days ago. Body is indistinguishable from new, both visually and the firmness of the controls. Shutter count was 3781, with 3697 of those on the mechanical shutter.

Similar story here too. Received the Z7ii today, looks and operates as new. Only 94 actuations on the shutter. Wonder if someone bought it, shot for a couple days and just returned it…? Regardless, as long as I don’t run into any issues, got a great deal.
