Personally I find it amazing at how impatient some people are. You would think they are into photography just so they can upgrade to the latest whiz-bang camera.

Can't help but chuckle at those who feel the need to upgrade with every model or switch brands because "I'm tired of waiting"...

I`ve no plans of getting a D2X anytime soon but this pre debut hype is still pretty interesting when you consider that some of the features could very well trickle down to the consumer models some day. And nothing wrong with being up on the current state of the art from Nikon .

Here are some full res images straight from the camera. I'll add links as they are uploaded. Please treat my bandwidth with respect, and download them only if you are really serious about it:

Low ISO samples (Nearly all at 100) -- check the EXIF for the details.

REMOVED INACTIVE LINKS - SEE LATER IN THREAD

High ISO samples (Nearly all 800) -- check EXIF for the details.

REMOVED INACTIVE LINKS - SEE LATER IN THREAD

Ben,

Thanks for the samples.

The files look like Canon's i.e. the same CMOS look.

I think Nikon is learning. #2 looks soft like it's from a Canon ;-)

Even the colors look more like Canon :-) I wonder if the diehards on DPREVIEW is going to cry about this later -- "Oh my God, nikon's new D2x has that PLASTIC look!!!"

BTW, Ben, do you mind if I host these on my server to allow others to see these (that way it won't take up your bw) -- my server also has about 3 gigabyte per month of BW.

Thanks for posting these Ben.

Same here, like paganini, if you wish, I may post the 800 shot(s) on my personal server (non-commercial).

Thanks again.

I'm having a problems with uploading the rest of the files. If anyone wants to copy them to their own server, please do so. Maybe I need to delete these before I can put the other high high ISO files up.

These are just test shots, so I don't really care what you do with them...... copy them, distribute them, print them, doesn't matter to me. I just want to get some samples out on the net. As soon as I have confirmation that the files are living elsewhere on the web as well, I'll take down some of my files and put up some new ones.

Ben, I have all of your images, so if you want to delete them please do so. Some already posted, all initial 6 will be posted at http://photo.neuroscuba.net/gallery/benhorned2x

As I don't know how long my site will last, I'd appreciate if someone can put up a duplicate website.

Looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you.

clam26 ,

I got all of them except the ISO 800 - it seems truncated/damaged. I can host a site, but I think everyone wants to see that image more than any other. Do you have a better version, or Ben could you email me the original and I can put it up?

Hi Stephen, I know everyone wants to see that last one, and I know it is truncated. That was the original posted by Mr Horne, so I do not have a better (or fuller) version. I'd appreciate if you can upload them on your server though, and post it as an alternate link (once mine dies), especially at dp, since I can't believe in the number of hits :-)

Thanks for your help.

Okay, here it goes (watch me flinch!):

http://www.utah-wedding-photography.com/BenHorneD2x/

Above the full-size image are some icons, click on the "i" and get exif data

We'll see how long my bandwidth lasts! If is is gone by March, don't be surprised!

Hey Ben, PS CS won't view the EXIF data for some reason. Were these shot jpg or raw? The reason I ask is that the flower in the orange section has some blown red (255) and also clipped blue (0). I also think I see some jpg artifacts at 200% when Shadow/Highlight is pumped to 50%. These appear to be clustering around small noise and making it worse. I sure would LOVE to see a tiff converted from raw. I suspect I will have to wait until I get mine next week. In any cases, at 72 dpi viewing the 60" image looks pretty damn good. What lens, f stop?

When you hit the "i" to show exif, the data appears, but lands way in the far left of your screen, and unless you have an apple 30" cinema screen, you'll have to scroll to find it!

Ben, you're a bigger man than most... those have to be some of the most waited for, highly scrutinized images I've seen! Cheers for posting!

I (a Canon shooter sshhhh!!) have to say the ISO 100's look darned nice! I hope the ISO 800's look as well, I'm sure there'll be a bunch of happy Nikonians come Friday, and some more eager than ever to get their hands on that new gun after seeing your images!! Again, hat's off to Ben for his valiant efforts!
