anyone tried ttartisan 500mm gfx? or anyone know some online reviews using it on gfx?
is it doable for wildlife? is there big vignette? is it realistic to use with manual focus on animals?
If you ever did wildlife with manual focus telephoto lenses, then went to quality AF for wildlife, you’ll never want to go back. Ever. But for static subjects, sure 👍
i dont think i will ever have a budget for good wildlife lens. but for that price of ttartisan i wouldnt mind to have it, if it is usable.

Sure it’ll be usable! We did so for years back in film days before auto-focus, and even after since early AF was so bad. It just requires practice and patience.
autofocus is one thing. also this lens was made for full frame, i wonder about vignetting

on gfx that would be worse i guess. then maybe using some canon EF budget tele maight be better option. some tamron or sigma. if there is vignette anyway, and slow autofocus is better then no autofocus.

OP is on a budget, so use it in 35 mode if that’s the case? Usable doesn’t mean it will be perfect or even very good, it means it will work in some fashion.
Its been a long time since I shot full manual for everything. I would think to reliably manual focus a 500mm prime, you would need to first get good a manual focusing on a shorter focal length, larger field of view. The OP doesn't give his comfort with manual focus currently so maybe he is good to go. It wasn't frustrating when we had no choice so I think preparing your brain would be key.
i do focus manualy with mitakon 65. outdoor scenario running kids - kind of like wildlife i have no problem with that. although somehow i dont like it in studio, closer distances maybe.

Lots of us like weird/exotic lenses. There's a whole alternative gear sub forum, and a large thread about adapting lenses to GFX. There's no reason for OP not to expect a useful reply and it's a good discussion. You seem a little salty.

If so then I wait impatiently for some detailed, first hand feedback on TTArtisan 500 in GF mount.
so ive got this lens on sale.
surprising - no vignette
huge issue - focus ring, it is so stiff that is barely possible to move it with one hand. using for few moments makes you very tired, at least handheld.
no stabilization requires very short shutter speeds.
no sure if i should keep it or return. i like to have that 500mm reach, but im not into wildlife that much to pay more then this.
same time ive got 100-200mm and will try to test it with teleconverter (on 50mp body it maight work). maybe that would be enough reach.

yeah, if it was cheaper i would just buy it.
opinions about it are very polarized. it maight be that for 100mp and 1.4x tc it is not sharp enough and people complain. for 50mp it could be enough.
or maybe there some units are sharper some less sharp and it is about luck.

The 100-200 works great with the 1.4x, it really makes that lens more useful. Expensive bugger though.
