Has anyone used the Ai-s 50mm f/1.8 on the Zf? My brother has one from film days and I wondered if I should ask him for it to try on the Zf?
.
The lens itself is great, you really can't go wrong with any of Nikon's film-era 50 f/1.8's.
Use on the Zf is fine. You don't get any sort of focus confirmation with it so you'll have to rely on peaking or zooming in. And you have to use an FTZ (or some other stack of adapters that's the same length), so a lot of its practicality and handiness is diminished. Still, a film-era Nikon 50 f/1.8 is always nice to have kicking around.

Thank you much! I might ask him for it to play with.
Similar note, i just pulled my dad's old Konica kit out and see he had a Hexanon AR 50mm f1.8 and a 135 f3.5. Not sure if they would be worth adapting too or not.

I say ask. I've got like ten 50-60mm lenses to pick from for the Z's, and the old 50 f/1.8's are among the best balanced. They're small, light, they have practically no distortion, they're fast enough to give you a classic older look wide-open, and they stop down really well.
I can't speak to the Konica stuff, but I think any lens is worth adapting just to see what it's about. And if there's a camera with those lenses, well, now you're pretty much obligated to start posting in the Film is Not Dead Forum

Ha! I'll then have to grab my trusty and 1st camera from 1981 the Oly OM- 2N w/50mm f1.4
I took a photo this evening with the Zf using the 28mm 2.8 that incorporated Venus over the Moon, shot at ISO 100 at 1/5th sec handheld at f/5.6 - the IS of the Zf is brilliant, it was -2 degrees C and it compensated for my shivering

The handheld images I've seen coming out of the camera are absurd. I'm coming from a Fuji X100V and Fuji X-T20. It's going to take a while for me to get used to it being feasible to shoot anywhere below 1/100, which is generally the absolute minimum I've done on those cameras.
I tried using the slow shutter to keep the iso low & maximise DR and no need to freeze any motion. The Fuji X100VI is also pretty good with the IS too.

I failed. My Zf should be here tomorrow. It’s my “mid-life crisis” purchase. I’m justifying it by then selling off all my other cameras and lenses to have just a single system. Plus, I can adapt all my old glass to it.
