Being an expat Aussie living in California, I'm a frequent visitor back to Australia. I used to joke that I'd seen more of the USA than I have of Australia as I was a tourist in the USA long before I became a resident and as you know tourists often see more of a country than residents do. Now that I'm a tourist when I go back to Australia, the balance is being addressed. Of course trips back are always about family but the jetlag allows me to wake up before everyone else and photograph sunrise.
This year Sydney was cold and wet when we were there, and Queensland was just wet with a few glorious days of sunshine. Being a family centric holiday limited my opportunities but I did get out a few times and here are my results.

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands. This is a bonus tourist type shot because it's so beautiful there. I was expecting to be underwhelmed because of all the hype over this beach but was blown away by the beauty of the location.
