I'm currently using an OM Systems OM-5 with two lenses:
- Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 X
- Olympus 30mm f3.5 Macro
The 12-35mm shows vignetting when at 12mm, wide open at f2.8. It goes away at f4.0 and f5.6. This happens while shooting JPEG's. I don't know if there is some computational correcting taking place in-camera or not. Will the vignetting be more visible if I shoot RAW?
My reason for asking is that on other cameras I have used, when you shoot RAW, all auto lens corrections don't work and I have to make any corrections in Photoshop. After all the corrections are done in Photoshop, it's like I wasted my time because the final edited image looks like the same image I would have gotten had I shot JOEG and used in-camera lens corrections.
Magic in-camera lens corrections are not applied cross-brand. Only the very basic functions of AE and AF compatiblity are mandated by the MFT standard.
You can find great deals on the original OM 12-40mm Pro lens. They work great. Some of the Pana-Leica lenses don't seem to rely on as much digital correction. I've used the 8-18 and 50-200 with good results on Oly/OM bodies.
DxO Photolab 7 applies lens corrections automatically. Thus, normally, there is practically no wasted time. Give PL7 Elite a try; it should be free to try for as long as one month. Maybe this would work for you.
