Here's a few photos from the redwood forest while I still have few days left to post images after paying to use Buy & Sell. Finally switched to the R5, but haven't used it in the redwoods yet. I suspect the 5DS R has a slight edge, but an R5 and R6 fit the type of kit I wanted for portraits, weddings and forest.
These images are all from Jedediah Smith redwood park adjacent to Crescent City, CA. The 5th image shows no EXIF but that one was through a Zeiss 135mm Apo Sonnar which I hope to buy again someday.

Beautiful pics!
I just moved on from my 5DsR and all things Canon after many years.
Simplified to used Hasselblad X1DII and a couple of used lenses.
I will be back down there in a couple of months to try out new kit.
Hope they turn out half as nice as these.

Half the battle is won with redwoods by going when there's overcast, rain or fog, and skipping sunny days (with the exception of rays in morning fog).

Another part of the battle is to not go to the national park, but to the state parks around the national park.

There's some truth to that for reasons of time, mileage, and that most people wouldn't know where to go. There's some amazing sights off-trail and the view from Bald Hills Rd. in the morning if redwood tops are pushing up through fog has almost no equal in the state parks. Otherwise, the state parks seem to provide more to work with for photographers.This one below is more a specimen redwood in Redwood National Park. The 2nd image is the world's tallest tree. Again, more of a tree of interest than a landscape photo scene. This was taken years ago before the area became restricted.

In the redwoods I find the variations of greens mixed together challenging, often. In summer when all the shrub growth gains leaves and turns green, I find it more challenging than autumn or winter. Thus Nov. to March is my favorite. I shoot a few redwood weddings and most are in summer, and light bouncing off all the yellows and greens onto skin or clothing takes getting used to.

Awesome pictures and thanks for sharing! My dad used to live in Willits, CA, and I would absolutely love driving through the redwoods, in particular the Avenue of the Giants. I can't wait to be back there.
