I bought a 50th Anniversary M4 from Tamarkin Camera in Chicago. I had been looking at black chrome M-A's then started looking at black chrome M4's. This arrived today. In the original box either matching serial number. Even the plastic bag the camera was in had the same serial number. At first I thought it was kinda stiff, then I realized it had never been used. The speeds are correct, the self timer works and there's not a speck of dust in the finder.
Wow, it doesn’t get any better than that! The Wetzlar M’s are peak Leica IMO and the M4 has most of the mod-cons of the later cameras whilst retaining the Wetzlar quality. I would choose your camera over an MA every time.

Found an old iphone pic of my Nikon N90S with the grip on. It's my most used full frame 35mm camera. I have a F100 but like N90's handling more. 🙂↕️
Nice! The N90 series were the last of the non single digit Nikon cameras (F/2/3/4/5/6) that used a metal latch for the film back. Everything after it inexplicably went to plastic.
Fantastic cameras.
Beautiful Noct Setup! How do you like the Nikon NC filters compared to any of the offerings from B+W if you've used any? Realized I recently nicked the front element of my 50mm f1.2 somewhat recently and now looking to invest in some filters in anticipation of getting a Noct myself lol
Thanks. I have a lot of B+W filters, but got the Nikon NC filter for the Noct mostly because it seemed the most appropriate, and others seemed to think it was at least as good as other options. Have not done any side by side comparison testing, so shouldn’t comment any further than to say results have been good.

Like madNbad's Leica M4 - I got a "mint" Olympus Pen F that I thought was stiff cocking, and shutter release. Compared to my FT - which is loose. It just hadn't been used. The brass gears sing, and the shutter is just as pronounced as the FT. I really wanted the "brighter" viewfinder of the F, and it is brighter. The viewfinder looks like new + not stealing light for a light meter does help.

I made it through most of a roll before I decided it wasn't going to loosen up. Rewinding was really stiff. It landed on DAG's doorstep this morning

Nicee. There's a case for the F but make sure the tripod screw is in the right place or else it goes on your FT 🙂

Smart move. Stuff most probably gummed up from lack of use.

The fifty year old lubricants lost their slip. I was planning on sending it off when I bought it
I haven't even put film in it. I have just been running it through it's functions. I'm overly cautious about applying force, and using the FT as my example wasn't accurate, because it is worn. It is smoother already, but I can tell it has seen very little use in it's 60 year old life. I have a whole collection of camera lubricants from working on them the last 2-3 years. The worst grease I ever came across was Agfa's green helicoid grease that sets up like epoxy. Managed to fix two Isolette II shutter/lenses from it.
Who is doing good Nikon film repairs these days? Looks like my FM may have some shutter drag or somesuch similar issue. I don't feel like starting a new thread over this so just posting it here.
