I captured this at Lake McDonald the evening before the big aurora event. I had planned to be out there with calm winds to photograph the Milky Way over the mountains. As it turned out, I had an early preview of the upcoming aurora activity.
Any thoughts are welcome.

Wow, this image is grand and beautiful. You and Sigma 14mm both rock! Along with the beautiful orange and pinks that contrast so well with the cool blues, a quick question jumped out at me when viewing the image for the firrst time: what causes the streaks in the lake, while the top is sharp without streaks? Is this a stitch of two shots? Thank you for sharing!

It is a single shot. I have seen that effect many times with reflections of the stars. I've always chalked it up to water motion.
