p.2 #2 · USPS Ground Advantage is horrible

So this is strange, the box I mailed, ground advantage, on the 21st from Hawaii to Florida was delivered today 4 days later.

Your package was probably one of the last packages to fill the container…and it was then put onto a flight. Next time it might be the first package in the container and will sit waiting many days as the container fills up. Luck of the draw.

Chez, that is the way parcel select works coming to Hawaii by boat.

From usps website.

1Expected delivery in 2-5 business days. Packages going to certain places (including Alaska, Hawaii, and offshore destinations), or containing hazardous materials or live animals may receive slower service.
2Items weighing 15.99 oz or less travel by air to Alaska, Hawaii, and offshore destinations. Items weighing over 15.99 oz travel by ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and offshore destinations.

Oh, you folks really don't want to know what is going on with FedEx now do you??!!

It's no longer about customer service or even the customer. It's all about the bottom line and making the shareholders happy.

And I know what I'm talking about since I worked with FedEx Express for 30 years.

Recently, I've had both UPS and FedEx hold packages in Salt Lake City for several days for Boise delivery.
Our current Postmaster General was appointed by the previous administration with the task of making the service so unreliable that privatization would be the only solution.

Chez, quoting from USPS “Hawaii, Alaska…have slower service”. I wouldn’t call sitting in one town 11 days “slower service”

Like I said, they wait until a container fills up before shipping it. That makes the shipping time indeterminate.

In some instances, delayed shipment issues can originate "at source". When you place your order, you may be notified that "your order has shipped", but in reality, it might simply mean that a shipping label has been created. The next step is sending the item to the shipping department for pick-up.

I had that issue a while back with Gitzo Canada. I had sent a tripod in for out-of-warranty repair, and after being notified that my order had shipped,,, it actually sat in their "shipping department" for 6 days. I called the repair tech and advised him of the situation, and he was sincerely apologetic and he corrected the situation immediately. He also waived the total cost of the repair and shipping fee as an act of good faith. Apparently, they were experiencing staff shortages during the pandemic. The package arrived the next morning, and I'm a very happy (and faithful) camper.

What tipped me off about the delayed shipment issue was the fact that I was not getting any tracking info from Canada Post, and of course, that was because Canada Post had not actually received the parcel

Bobarino, with USPS tracking it will tell if a lable was created but that they do not have the package at that time. Once they show they have the package in their hands you can track ir.
