p.1 #1 · insect 'proof' suit for wildlife photography
Hi,
I've been looking for a while for some 'miracle' suit that can protect me from insects in the summer time.
Because of mosquitos & other insects, for me the summer is almost DEAD in terms of photography.
I am not allergic to mosquito bites & such, but I am very very annoyed (to a psychological level) by them and their bites. I get very annoying itches and this just doesn't work with standing still while observing/photographing wildlife.
I don't care about lotions & sprays & repellents.
I'm interested whether there are some sort of 'suits' to fully protect from mosquito/insect bites..

Yes pricey but they do work. The double layer is off your body enough where no bites occur. I definitely feel they work well and worth the price. I have had no failure with the zippers or the material.

Really? Has anyone considered that people that use backpacks and tripods are likely to include the demographic that is likely to be able to respond most knowledgeably to your inquiry?
It may well be that in FM's permissive society, it is "open minded", permissible or helpful to post gear, travel, B&W, obvious workshop solicitation threads in the Nature and Wildlife presentation board, but Tony's original post was correct...the appropriate board is the General Gear-Talk board.
Ditto. And even the 'Forum & Miscellaneous' would be a more appropriate forum.
Unfortunately we have a little 'Like Me' clique where certain members throw out 'likes' to nearly every post they look at, and they do so simply in order to receive 'likes' in return.
The purpose of the N&W Forum is for members to share nature and wildlife images, and the only discussions to be posted are meant to be restricted to such images posted. It is a 'Presentation Forum', and not a 'Discussion Forum', and there is a reason why there are separate forums. I don't know why certain members can't understand and respect those guidelines.

"The purpose of the N&W Forum is for members to share nature and wildlife images, and the only discussions to be posted are meant to be restricted to such images posted." And how are these images to be created and improved if the discussion dose not include technique, such as composition, exposure, field craft, and the necessary things to produce the wonderful images that we all love?
Just your act of discussing the guidelines is outside of your own guidelines Tony!
Like it or not there are people that visit this forum that enjoy life and a little humor such as the photo of the space suits has made a number of people respond by liking it and the OP openly stated he got it. Your PM about that photo simply shows how unhuman you act. It is wonderful that we are getting new members and we need this to be a fun place to be so IMHO Tony the cop needs to lay off and let people be people.

You just don't get it, do you? Where is the image the OP presented for discussion? What part of Nature & Wildlife Posting Guidelines:
This forum is for the presentation and discussion of presented images only. don't you understand
Those are Fred's guidelines, not mine. For 20+ years members have been learning and teaching all those techniques by discussing them with a PRESENTED IMAGE. Do you know what a 'presented image' is?
Just your act of discussing the guidelines is outside of your own guidelines Tony!
Really bright comment.

Yes, I can tell by your preaching you are a really funny guy. Yes, how inhuman for me to say in a Private Message that Helpful like posting images of men in NASA space suits?
Maybe try practising what you preach. Commenting on any PM's sent to you by any member shows your lack of integrity.
As for new members, perhaps you could help them by pointing out this forum's guidelines (not mine) and make the helpful suggestion as to the most appropriate forum for them to post on when they post on this forum unaware of those guidelines.
Is that too complex of a procedure for you to follow?

It's simple Tony. I have compassion and enjoy life. You have been a grumpy old man since band a few times for annoying people so you have become Mr. Law and Order. Get over it! Live is too short.
They won't help while you are walking around but once seated / stationary they work like nothing else! 40 years of hunting in hot weather, swamps, etc and I can say without reservation that Thermacells are greatest thing since sliced bread.

Every time I look up in the top right hand corner I see the name 'Fred Miranda' as moderator And that's what keeps me here!
Then we have this faux moderator that pokes in, apparently he thinks Fred isn't doing his job? Seems like he searches to find postings like this in every forum here to lecture members on proper forum etiquette and then takes up a few posts within the thread that he believes shouldn't even be posted.
Interesting topic, caught my interest glad it was posted as it likely would not be seen by nearly as many in the other mentioned forums.
I guess all that was missing was an image of swarming insects I hope you find a solution to cope with the aggravations and anxiety that the insects elevate you to so you can enjoy your hobby
