IMO it is all the orange in #1 that makes the image ......
I understand what/how you are seeing these but I prefer how I presented this set. More about the energy of color and the colors supporting the subject chosen. It gets a little odd looking when desaturating the surrounding brilliant colors, these were more to be inclusive of all colors and subjects if that makes sense. Your suggestion by all means can work, just would give perhaps a more pronounced look to the focal point subject, nothing wrong with that approach either. There is considerable blur included to isolate the subject and keep the intensity of the supporting colors.

Flowers are one of the most varied and beautiful things in all of creation. Along with birds, they are my favorite subjects.
You did a wonderful job - love the shots from the helicopter!

Nope, Legoland was not on the list, girlfriend and her daughter had done it once before and now has outgrown it.
Gosh, if ever you are by it again, take time, slow down and go enjoy it! Or go take the helicopter ride out of Oceanside and fly over it

Hey Tim sorry we couldn't get together, close but not close enough. I was delighted to hear of the flower fields being so close to where we stayed, would love to have visited it earlier or later for different light but sure was impressed with the massive fields and opportunities of colors and textures!
