Putting this question here as most Singh-Ray filters are good for landscape photography. Has anyone purchased from Singh-Ray lately? I sent them an email this last week, asking about shipping availability for a filter I was interested in, and I’ve gotten a number of very odd responses back (like asking for my address to immediately ship out a filter I haven’t even purchased yet), and now this, after I responded “don’t you want me to purchase it first?”:
‘i am going thru the reorg and working thru the legal slow process and working thru good faith hope to get a positive feedback thru the process, will advise you on the payment”
I’m going to try calling today to see what is going on since this is truly weird and no way am I ordering something at this time, but was wondering if anyone here has a clue or insight…has the company been sold?
A notice appeared on Singh-Ray's website around October or November about them being temporarily unavailable to accept new orders. It has stayed up since, and former Singh-Ray ambassador Greg Kiser posted some insights on his blog earlier this year that might shed some light on what's probably happened with the company: https://gkiserphotography.com/behind-the-camera-2023-in-review/
In short, one of the owners of the company passed away, and several key employees retired. The company is now most likely defunct and the site has probably been hacked, which explains the strange replies you've been getting: the e-mail address which is currently showing on Singh-Ray's homepage is incorrect, as it has previously always been [email protected].
This is all truly too bad about the company. I own three of the Color-Combo CPL's and really do like them. Last October I needed a new CPL and saw the same banner about their sales be set aside for a time. I hate to see the company end because they really did build a quality product. I wish all their employees well and hope they've landed on their feet.
