Hello, everyone -- Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I visited and posted. My photography business came to a sudden end late in 2017 when my family moved across the country from NH to Wisconsin. This put a big dent in my enthusiasm for getting out the camera, so looking to be inspired again.
I used to be most active with Senior portraits and I've had a few kids of my own graduate in the past 6 years, so that has kept me going a bit. I will share some of those soon. For now, I have a few recent shots of my 14-year-old son I'll share.
I look forward to perusing the site again and see what everyone is up to. I always found this site to be very inspirational and helpful. CC is always welcome!
You are correct! Though my expertise is portraiture, I also love to take landscapes and botanicals when I can. I live in a beautiful part of the country (northwoods Wisconsin,) so I get a lot of opportunities. I also have done several events (NOT my expertise) and have enjoyed learning more about that as well.
Wisconsin is a wonderful State to photograph! From the big cities to the dells North and beyond! We had a cabin on Lake Vermillion, MN for many years, 1950-1980. Magical!
You have a great "canvas"...use it!

For CC, personally I would clean up a few of the stray hairs in the back lit shots, but not all of them. I know folks have their own preferences when it comes to this though, so my CC is purely subjective.
I started visiting Wisconsin several times a year when my best friend moved there at the start of 2023. Absolutely beautiful state, but I can imagine it must be difficult to feel inspired to photograph people, during Winter especially. I usually get booked for a few shoots every time I visit in Spring, Summer and Autumn, so I'm confident you'll be able to get your business going again if that's something you want to do.

Yes! We moved here from New Hampshire and I was really worried that I would miss all that beautiful landscape and that WI would not be able to measure up -- but it really has (albeit in different ways.) I have to say that I have never seen more beautiful sunsets as I have here!

Oh, good eye! I am astonished that I did not notice those hairs! I am usually much better than that. Thanks! And, yes, I'd love to get back into photography professionally, but not sure if that is in the cards. It's very hard to start over and other things are taking most of my time, but I do miss it and remembered how inspiring this page was when I used to visit years ago. Fixed it. Thanks, again! Started posting in landscapes and will add more in time.
