Taken with a shutter remote, the animals do come quite close to the vehicle. The buffalo is actually at one of our lodges so i placed the wide angle on the ground and the buffalo walked up to check it out.
awesome, how did you get the low angle on the others, for eg the B&W shot of the elephants
These are spectacular! I am going in September. Love the wide angle shots. Love the post processing. Would really love more details on how you achieved these images.

A lot of people use home made buggies on Safari, or you can place an order for a beetle cam:
^^^ omg. That is absolutely fantastic. I watched that first video and all I could think about while watching it was what would happen if a lion grabbed my buggie and ate my camera and then.... bam!
The thought of my wife's reaction at the mere suggestion of this idea scares me even more than a lion eating my A7R5 and 16-35 GM lens.

This was actually shot from the vehicle and i dropped the wide angle down on a monopod. The elephant came for a drink right next to the car! I almost missed the shot because i was frantically trying to change lenses!
I have used the beetle cam, but it is a handful to travel with and in the busier parks it is not allowed. Heres some shots I shot last year with the beetle cam.
