Mostly price, and I don't really have any use for the extra resolution. I'd probably enjoy the EVF but overall the features of the R series are mostly lost on me.
A7rV is twice the price of A7c II. It is also different style - larger, making it totally another kind of product.
The new AF is superior to A9 af in all scenarios, especially with animals. A9 focuses well to human face/eye, I have never had a problem there, but new system does that just a little better
I agree, the A7V is a camera worth waiting for. Especially so if Sony slaps a new 40mpx sensor to it... However, I am sure that A7V will be priced higher than current A7IV, placing it closer to A7rV. And more importantly, A7V is not yet available.
