This is the outlet stream for the basin and there is just one nest each year for the entire basin, which is 2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. The main channel is about 50+ feet wide. The problem is that this channel is also the only pathway for watercrafters headed to the outlet and back. So, this channel gets very high kayak/caone traffic. But it does not start until after the loons have committed to the nest. The loons choose their nest site in late May to early June and the watercrafters do not come out until will into June (47th lat north).
