Is there any actua advantage to using Sony Tough series G or M SD/SDXC cards over Sandisk or lexar cards?

Sony has claims that sound good. But, are the cards actually any better than the competition?

If so, in what way?

Am looking at some new SDXC cards and want the best for my use. Temperatures from -40 to 117(f) in use. Not on the same day but over the seasons.

take a look at delkin cards.

they did 2 smart things on their Black line:
- the removed the ribs between the contacts (i've broken a few of them on my P/S cameras)
- the removed the write protect lock switch (useless)
added a bit of robustness to the build

https://www.delkindevices.com/delkin-black/

- a "reasonably" good warranty too

I use the Sony Tough G cards and love them. Have used them in my Canon R6m2 for just over a year. They also do not have the ribs between the contacts, or the useless write protect lock that sjms described with the Delkins. They are more rigid and heavier than the SanDisk and others. I have never held the Lexar Black line so can't describe their build. I see that the Sony's are more expensive but I bought some of mine used.

I have 2. But it was one of those buy things I question since the Sony Tough cards are pricey. Take a look at ProGrade memory cards. Once in a while they have a sale.

This is interesting. I'm more drawn to Delkin Black than Sony Tough.

I do have a couple of Sony Tough G cards (bought years ago when they weren't quite as expensive) and although they (and Delkin Black cards) are certainly more robust than normal SD cards I've never had any physical issues with normal SD cards in all the years I've used them so I'm not willing to pay the significant premium for toughened versions. YMMV.

One of my Sony cards was on this list. Sony sent me a FedEx label to return it and sent me new one. One of the least painful experiences returning a defective product.

Still a Sony Tough card fan (corrected for sjms )

If you donít need the absolute fastest cards, the SF-M tough cards from Sony are just as robust as the far more expensive G class cards, at a much lower price. Iíve never had the need for faster for what I shoot, though you may be different. The M class cards are still fast, just not as fast.
