I have both Neewer grips and tried the Smallrig. Don't like any of them, because I'm used to having the shutter button on top of the grip. Now you have to reach for the shutter button on top of the camera, which feels very unnatural for me. Whenever I have a smaller lens on the ZF I prefer to use it without any grip, for just that reason.

The proper grip for the Zf is the middle finger over the top of whatever accessory grip you have installed, and the ring and pinky around the front. This puts your index finger directly over the shutter. I have no issues at all holding it in this way.
I just got the Zf and the Neewer 079 grip. I rather like both!
And Jman is spot on (great revelation indeed) ... easy to hold and index finger right over the shutter!

Thank you Jman.
I also hold it like that (is there even a different way than holding it like that if you want to use the shutter button?) and it doesn't feel ergonomic to me at all. I always have to reach for the shutter button.
I think this is less of an issue for people with larger hands/longer index fingers.
I had my smallrig grip on yesterday while using tripod, but took it of afterwards. I held the camera for a few minutes before deciding to remove it, as I said before I like Zf as it is On the Zfc and FM2n, the grips are still allways on.
I think I stopped using the grip with my primes half a year ago, cant find med posting about it though...
The Zf is shortlisted in my search for a modern full-frame mirrorless camera, but ergonomics are extremely important to me, so I would only purchase it if I was confident I could find a grip that suits my needs.
I find the Fujifilm X-T5 and its Smallrig grip to be a perfect ergonomic combination. The finger falls naturally onto the shutter release button and the built-in thumbrest on the camera counterbalances things nicely. Importantly, there is no unnatural index finger stretching required to reach the shutter button (an unfortunate reality I find when using my Nikon F3 with a grip - mildly uncomfortable, but usable).
I am wondering whether there is any grip that feels similar to the above, whether it's the Neewer CA079 or the e1sky wooden grip that has been linked previously. My concern with the latter is that the shutter button appears to be quite far from the divot in the grip where the middle finger is intended wrap around, potentially necessitating the aforementioned unnatural stretch to reach the shutter button. Can anyone chime in on this?
I'm rather annoyed that Nikon sold the Japanese grip domestically for about a week for $99 and then discontinued it. I was waiting for Amazon pricing to catch up and reflect that so I could do a catch and release purchase.
> None of the grips change the position of the shutter button
Yes, but some grips are, for example, narrower at the top than they are at the bottom, having a therefore shorter distance between the middle and index fingers than other grips. I'm curious whether users of the Neewer and/or e1sky grips consider the distance long enough to be at the point of discomfort.

Has anyone tried the Leftfoto grip with the wooden handle on Amazon? I recently ordered the Neewer one from Amazon but it was the older version and I’m not crazy about it but it was only $16 so I’ll probably keep it to use as an L bracket (with a small plate) but I don’t really like the weight and ergonomics of the original Neewer for hand holding.

I have the new 079 Neewer and quite satisfied with it ... wasn't $16 bucks though.
I was wrong about the wooden grip I ordered from Amazon it is a Leftfoto not Leofoto,it was delayed in shipping then I tried to cancel it but I think it is still going to be delivered to me but I'll return it. Since it was delayed I ordered the SmallRig Grip and I like the tactile grippy feel of it much better than the Neewer V1 grip though I am keeping that for a L grip with a tiny Novoflex plate.
I feel like we still need new grip. A grip with bigger handle, to add really good grip feel, bigger front part and wrap around to add thumb rest as well.
I have the third Neewer grip coming soon (should hopefully be here this week), with the rubberized front grip with a finger ledge + the same rear thumb grip as the Neewer 079. Hoping this is the best of all worlds.

The Nikon one would've been amazing, but not for more than 50 bucks, let alone 200.. it's not a damned Leica accessory, Nikon!
I'm very happy with the Neewer 079, but I also don't shoot big glass on my Zf.. the Leica 180mm f/2.8 Elmarit-R (not the monster v1) is the heaviest lens, and that requires properly holding the camera anyways. (by properly, I mean using your left arm to carry all the weight and the right merely to aim, adjust, and shoot)

+ it brings back the possibility to screw in a tripod plate in the grip (on the side). That was something nice on their first version. No need for an L bracket, just screw in a plate whenever using a tripod.
And I just got Haoge grip.
I keep looking for a thick big grip, will post photos tomorrow.
Its thicker than Smallrig, feeling is practically the same, kinda same material used.
All those grips look weird to be honest, made of rubber, like a ugly black dildo slapped on a camera...
Why can't they make some nice high quality material grip, like I dont know.. replicate a size and shape of Z6 grip and just make it fit Zf...
