A sport that always interested me but never followed through with it! These are wonderful! Very fine tones and use of light! Glad to see this lovely young woman en garde!!!

Personally, the posing/cropping seems a bit awkward in the first image, but 2 and 3 are really well-executed portraits!
Thanks for the feedback, yeah the pose I wanted with the salute in profile wasn't possible due to her bringing along a brand new mask instead of her well worn one - the bib on the new mask was still too stiff so she couldn't drop her chin to bring her helmet into a natural position. The compromise was to have her lean forward so that the profile of the helmet matched the sabre's verticality. A little unfortunate in the end pose, but the best we could manage at the time.

Cheers Dan, I fenced for a short time (25 years ago now) but never professionally. It was nice to talk about it again with her, I don't usually cross paths with anyone who fences in my neck of the woods.
Great images!... I really love the texture on the first one and the pose on the third.
Pardon some strangers suggestions to be ignored as you like...
#1 - I agree the crop is a bit constricting.. adding a lot of neg space only background to the left I think would add to the image and a quick PS jobie. I don't mind the helmet angle at all and would not have noticed without your comment but I don't have a background in the sport.
#3 - I do wish I could see more of - presumably - the southern cross on the left leg and maybe a bit more empty space to the left also but this is the best of the set IMO. I bet it looks great at full res.
