p.1 #1 · New Cobat Fuji Digital v4.1 with Fuji Reala Ace

Cobalt has recently launched an updated version of their Fuji Digital profiles. Based on my initial tests, these profiles appear to be even more accurate than before when compared to both Fuji Studio conversions and in-camera profiles.

Also, the latest collection now includes the new Fuji Reala Ace profile. Here's a quick conversion using the new Reala profile with an image straight out of the camera.

Note: I'm not associated with the company; I'm simply a happy customer.
You can find their Fuji Digital Emulation product at https://www.cobalt-image.com/product/fuji-digital-emulation/.

p.1 #2 · New Cobat Fuji Digital v4.1 with Fuji Reala Ace

Copied from the Cobalt thread at the Sony forum.
The news communicated by Cobalt is the new profile: Fuji Real Ace.
But to me a very welcome change is that the other profiles come over to me more natural, less red skin tone saturation and 'glow'. I tried Astia, Pro Neg Std, Provia, and Velvia.
Up to now I preferred their old, discontinued Fuji XPro2 Astia and Velvia profiles. I'll see whether the new ones change my preference.

Since my X-Pro3 doesn't have the Reala Ace simulation, I developed a recipe that closely resembles the Fuji Reala Ace simulation. While some online recipes use Classic Neg as a base, they don't quite match the new Reala sim. For accurate greens and reds, starting with Classic Chrome works better. This profile is based on Fuji's own profile using X RAW Studio or the new Cobalt Reala Ace, which looks identical to Fuji's with some tweaks (saturation lowered by -10 points and tint increased by +10 points). These adjustments are necessary because the Cobalt profiles were originally for the GFX100 II.

This recipe gives the best results when using a white balance preset like Daylight, but it also works well with auto white balance (AWB). Adding clarity is optional, depending on your preference.

I've also created a Nostalgic Neg that closely resembles Fuji's. It's a good option for those with older cameras without these new profiles. Achieving a perfect match is impossible since Fuji's RAW Studio doesn't allow for individual color adjustments; it only offers temperature and tint controls. However, you can come close to replicating the colors and tones.

The newest cobalt profiles (v4.1) for Fuji are better adjusted to Fuji's own in-camera JPEGs (or when using X RAW Studio) compared to the default Lightroom profiles for Fuji. However, there's a minor adjustment needed for all profiles. If you increase the tint by 10 points and decrease the saturation by 10 points, the raw files look almost identical to Fuji's. This adjustment isn't required for images from the GFX100 II since the profiles were based on this camera.

Hi Fred,

Yes, and that is more connected to the different setups of the SOOC engine of the GFX family compared to the apsc family.
The emulation is calibrated on the GFX100II output.

Thanks for your test, we can finally say the emulations of the Fuji digital pack are almost perfect with a DeltaE lower than 2!

Guys, I need honest opinion.. Is rally that cobalt images camera profiles can replicate "fuji colors" (film Sims), so You can shoot with Sony A7IV and have output with very much like Fuji colors?

I'm in Fuji system basically only for it's Imho best in industry colors (especially skin tones)
But I rally would love to have some lenses for Sony E mount (like superb Tamron 20-40/2.8 for travel/everyday photography, or Voigtlander Nokton 40/1.2 for portraits).

Only thing what stops me to switch to Sony is their crappy colors. Hate its yellow/green cast
But maybe with Cobalt Images I can find walkaround to have beautiful colors from Sony cameras?

In theory, yes, although I haven't directly compared the output side by side. I can do this because I own a Sony A7RII and Fuji X-Pro3 and share the results.

I have been using them with my Sony cameras and I'm generally pleased. Definitely an upgrade compared to what you have to work with in Lightroom for Sony cameras.

I also have Filmpack with DxO Photolab and you get most of the Film Sims there's too. I'm not sure which I prefer. Both options seem similar.

The color profiles in DxO are much better than what is available in Lightroom even without Filmpack.

Overall this is a very personal thing. DxO has a free trial so no risk. Download some Sony raw files and test it.

Any plans to create a set of film sims based on the X-T5/X-H2 sensor family?

It would be nice to not have to start every edit with tweaks to global saturation and tint.

Oh, it would be ultra helpful because I can't find such a comparison anywhere on internet.
I would have to borrow Sony camera from some online store and buy cobalt-images film profiles for full price, just to check results.
Im interested mostly in human skin tones in Classic Chrome and Provia, because these are two film profiles I use 99% times in my portrait photography.

If You can Fred, please take any portrait photo of anyone in ambient light (preferably somewhere in full shadow)
You can even cover the face or eyes with a black square in Windows Paint just so I can compare what the skin tones would look like from the Sony sensor vs processed through cobalt-images vs "pure" X-Trans

Like I said earlier, Fuji colors are basically only reason Im in Fuji X system, and if I find that I can have Fuji colors from any sensor I will switch the systems (not sure which one however, because every FF system has many, many great lenses which I would love to use for my photography)
