Snapped a couple pics of the difference between the OEM Voigtlander hood vs. the Haoge hood from Amazon. I really thought I would like the Voigt hood, but I find it kinda ugly and it's also $110.

Voigtlander hood is taller and can be seen on camera in pic #2

Cosina Voigtländer have 2 different accessory hood options for this lens, the 2nd one is LH-4N which is smaller and cheaper. Both can be seen on the product page:

Hey thanks for sharing. Looks like there's also a circular hood.

Hopefully this helps someone comparing the square hoods

I use the circular style, I find the rectangular style is far more obtrusive in the VF.

The Haoge hood seems like it's mean for a 28mm lens, so it would shade less than the CV hood for a 35mm lens.

The lh-12 is a brilliant hood - it provides excellent shading from both light and rain. I understand it may be too large for some but it owes its great performance to its size. It is also hard to use with a polarising filter.

What is the part number for the hoage hood? I’d like to check it out.

The hood in this thread is LH-VM13P. Hoage say it’s a bayonet design to replace LH-12 or LH-4N.

They also make LH-VM12 and LH-VM11 which fit bayonet 39mm filter lenses like the LH-VM13P. These would be more suitable for 28mm/ 35mm/ 50mm lenses. To me the LH-VM13P is like Voigtlander’s LH-11 which they make for their 21mm lenses. They used to make LH-1 which is a clamp on design made for 21mm/ 25mm lenses.

I am firm believer in hoods to protect from flare, particles - dust/ rain, fingers and knocks. All lenses should come with them.

I agree but the rectangular looks way cooler!

I recently picked up the LH-VM13 to replace my VM12 on the 28mm Ultron II. Huge upgrade on VF blockage for me. Though the VM13 went on weird at first, (difficult) it now seems to move freely off and on.

Old thread but for others interested...
I much prefer these more compact style square hoods as they don't block my viewfinder. They will vignette a bit when shot wide open but I can live with that given I live from f4-8. Aluminum or a brass painted versions too
