I recently took a trip to southern Alberta, and while it was mostly for owls, here are some landscape shots I took, all in temperatures of -30 to -40 degrees Celsius.
Nice. I have lots of shots of Mossleigh because of the elevators. I try to get full moon shots with the elevators. Did you find any snowy owls? I usually find them north of the Bow River.

We searched hard in the Beiseker area, and also south of Calgary, but only saw two, resulting in only two keeper shots.
Finding Great Greys was also very tough, but Water Valley seemed to be the best spot.

Thanks. Yes, it's kind of a "full circle" sort of thing, as this is the sort of stuff I was drawn to when I first got into photography about 14 years ago.
Sorry to hear about the lack of owls. Around Beiseker used to be the hot spot. Typically the only owls I have seen this year are Great Horned Owls. A few years ago there were lots of Short Eared Owls, but I haven't seen one for years. The one thing about Alberta is that there are a very wide variety of environments and animals to see and photograph. For a sampling, watch Mike Drew on You Tube. Colin, back to take another look at these images, and I’m remembering your post some weeks ago about you needing to switch to lighter gear because of ALS. It’s remarkable to me that you are capturing these images despite the debilitating disease, and it’s incredibly inspiring to me. I’ve voted for your thread, you deserve it.

Thanks Ross! I've had number of falls in the last 2.5 years, but being insanely careful, I managed to do this 6-day trip in snowy and brutally cold conditions without one. Arriving back home in Victoria, I tripped on the front doorstep and almost went down - ha!

Thanks Brad. I live on Vancouver Island, and while it is a very large island, it is a very different experience being on the prairies, where the vastness is overwhelming.
