p.1 #1 · Poster Hangers

Is anyone using these as a display option (no mounting, no frame, no glazing, etc.)? I just started printing my own work about a year ago and I'm looking for a simple display option for my bordered prints. I'm not concerned with the prints being unprotected (that's a topic for another time).

These (https://posterhanger.com) look pretty good, but there's something about the site that makes me uneasy. Jørgen Møller died in 2011, and there's nothing on the site indicating that this supplier is an authorized distributor and isn't simply using his name as a marketing gimmick for some knock-off product. It also doesn't help that the street address is a residence. I sent them an email last week but haven't received a response.

So back to the original question ... Does anyone use poster hangers, and if so, do you have a recommendation for a quality product. Cheap ones abound (maybe they all come from the same factory) I'm hoping some first-hand experience can guide me in the right direction.

I've used them in my office (healthcare) for years. The plastic gripper things don't work so well on slick paper (glossy or some metallic), but great on luster/satin & most metallic. I can change out prints in @30 seconds, which is great since I rotate the displays as I'm out shooting. I've had a lot of people ask about them for their own use. I bought from them probably 23 years ago, so can't speak to how they are now.

I ordered two sets of these from that same website (posterhanger.com) in 2012 (just double-checked my e-mail receipts). They worked so well for me that I ordered three more sets from that same website in 2014. I use them with Epson luster paper (I have not tried glossy prints with these hangers). I swap the prints out of the hangers several times a year, and they have worked wonderfully over the years. Only once have I had a print come loose, but that was due to leaving a window open and having very gusty winds blowing the print around. After closing the window, I rehung the print and it held just fine (and continues to work great to this day). I also frame my prints, but these hangers make it so much easier to swap out the prints. These are for my personal use within my own home.

You don't find your prints warp over time due to humidity when displayed liked this?

I have not noticed any warping, but I don't typically have any particular print hanging this way for more than six months or so.

I think it’s humidity swings that cause warping. I know when I lived in a place where humidity changed quite drastically I had warping issues, but now I live in an area where the swing in humidity is not much, I don’t have any warping issues.

Warp? It depends on the paper weight and composition but generally not with the cotton matte, satin, and RC papers I’ve used. If I recall, some Harman gloss baryta did warp a bit. The upsides are the price, ease of use, ease of changing, etc. Downsides include lack of print protection and one has to purchase multiple sizes.
