p.34 #2 · Nikon Zf as a platform for adapted/native manual focus lenses
Thank you all for the responses! I understood that using non-CPU lens data activated/utilised/is restricted to a "crippled" IBIS - I was just a little confused as to whether one was denied IBIS in any of the lens combinations (CPU and non-CPU) because that wasn't the case from my memory. I may have read one of snooglys posts wrongly. Before coming to the Zf my main cameras didn't have IBIS at all, so even 3-axis IBIS is plenty for me and better than nothing. I'm just glad with the non-CPU lens data setting we have access to IBIS without having to use a smart adapter in the first place.

Hiya All,
I’m new to the forum.
I’ve a couple of queries - what adapters do people use/recommend for the following:
- Sony E mount to Nikon Z - with electrical contacts for EXIF data and all focus aids for manual lenses
- Leica M mount to Nikon Z - again to allow all focus aids (not fussed about adapters that make lenses into auto focus lenses by moving the lens back and forth). Do these exist for Leica M, or only dumb adapters?
Many thanks,
Shane

For Sony E to Nikon Z there is the Megadap ETZ21 Pro. It does allow AF for AF lenses, but you won't notice that if you use it for manual focus lenses; it does not move manual focus lenses back and forth to make them AF. It allows all focus aids and enables 3-axis IBIS on Nikon Z cameras.
For Leica M to Nikon Z - there is an adapter from TTartisans that reads 6-bit coded M lenses and provides most of the functionality you are looking for.
See this thread where it is discussed in more detail. It is not an easy adapter to find:

Some pictures from today with my Elmar 5cm F3.5 (1946 or 47) on Nikon Zf. Taken at F3.5 or F4.0. SOOC Jpegs, I wanted to show the lens as it is. On longer distances, like landscapes it's worse

Wow. Proof that everything has been downhill since the IIIf & 50/3.5.
My dogs are why I got into manual lenses. AF often has trouble focusing on them, especially in darker environments. I have the 6 Bit M-Z adapter on the way and am looking at the Nokton 1.2 VM to complement my Z-mount 50/2 APO as a shorter character lens. Also in consideration are the LTM Canon 50MM 1.4, the Nikkor 5cm F2 (if I could find one without scratches), maybe the m-hexanon 50/2? Having read a number of posts, the new lenses from LLL and Mr. Ding are also intriguing so I'm looking forward to finding one to try.

Took the zf with my newly acquired 35mm lux FLE I for a spin tonight. Glorious colors tonight after sunset. The lux seems to vignette a bit with the TTArtisan adapter. It’s fine because I like a light vignette anyway.
Don’t worry - I wasn’t standing on an active track. It was taken out of service years ago.

Received adapter.
Kind of a bummer, my LM mount lenses aren't chipped, and the adapter isn't chipped.
NO focus confirmation box action.
I can only wonder how I used these lenses before, knowing that I have, though, on other systems, Fuji-X.
Sigh...
Kind of bummered, as yesterday, I successfully used my CY 35-70 macro with the Fringer EF-NZ II adapter,
The lens has a CY mount to EF mount chipped adapter on it, and the focus box worked great.

I think the TT-Artisans 6-bit adapter and the Techart TZM-02 would allow focus confirmation with some caveats. My TT m-z adapter is still en route so I can't confirm, but using the preset options of [135, 90, 75, 50, 35, 28mm] lengths on the dial should provide you the green highlight confirmation +/- how close your lens focal length is to the preset dial.

Hello,
Sorry, but I am not understanding where this is located?
What dial is this?

The TTArtisans 6-Bit adapter has a dial on the adapter ring itself with a couple preset focal lengths on it. I think this is how using the adapter in combination with non-chipped lenses still provides focus confirmation on the Zf. Once it arrives I'll be able to test for myself using the CV50/1.5 VM.
