Does anyone know if this Voigtlander Macro APO Lanther 110mm F2.5 will work on my ZF via a Z to E Adapter .......Unfortunately Voigtlander don't make a Z mount in 110mm

So I just tried a brand new Voitlander 110mm E (Sony mount). on my ZF with the Techart adapter and it wouldn't work, I kept getting error messages. The crazy. thing is it worked on both the Z6 and Z7 with the same adapter......the guy in the shop thinks it's a firmware issue as the adapter firmware is 2023. He recommended that I try it with a dumb iron adapter (no electronics ) but unfortunately he didn't have that adapter. Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes, at you - you left 5 posts one after another - you can always edit your first post and add more content without cluttering the thread.

Same for creating new threads - you created numerous new threads without previously reading or checking the forum if same topic already exists, like your "official" threads you have created recently here.

Hi,
What is the best Sony E to Nikon Z manual focus adapter, for my ZF. Build quality should be great.

@ndwgolf1 My CV 50 1.2 works great on ZF on Megadap adapter.

I bought the Neewer adapter. I’m currently in Malaysia but heading back to Thailand tomorrow where the adapter is waiting for me……….. I’ll let you know how it is after I try it out 😊

I’ve read through most of this thread but admittedly not all of it so apologies if this is already answered:

Right now there appear to be 3 viable M to Z adapters with electronic connections: TTArtisans 6-bit (is it discontinued?), Megadap and Techart.

I absolutely want to get some of that green focus confirmation box goodness so an adapter with electronic contacts is a must. I don’t need autofocus but wouldn’t sneeze at it if the adapter were capable. Which of the 3 is the going recommendation? Did I miss any?

As I understand it there are really only two adapters. The TTArtisans uses six bit coded M lenses to convey the focal length and max aperture of the lens to the camera. It really doesn't do anything else. The Techart and the Megadap adapters provide EXIF data and AF and really are just different versions of the same adapter (the Megadap is newer). I am not sure how any of these work with the green focus confirmation box or how they compare to selecting the focal length from a list without an electronic adapter. Obviously you can only get AF with the techart/megadap adapter, but beyond that I don't know.

You might want to also consider Z mount Voigtlander lenses, and F-mount Voigtlander lenses with the FTZ as these will definitely provide green focus box focussing and many are based on Leica M mount lenses and they have been adjusted for the thicker sensor cover glass of Nikon cameras (Nikon cameras have thicker cover glass than Leica M cover glass and this can diminish the quality of Leica M glass on Nikon cameras especially wide angle lenses -- really short exit pupil (and if they have wide apertures) lenses but these tend to be wider angle lenses. You can also adapt Sony E mount Voigtlander lenses (there are some not available in Z mount) and Zeiss Loxia lenses to Nikon Z camera with the ETZ adapter from Techart and that provides green focus box focussing as well.

So lots of choices out there.

I should have mentioned that I’m a Leica shooter so I’ve got some pretty good glass I want to use. The Voigtlander z mount stuff is very appealing but I’m trying to stay within the m mount family for my MF lenses.

I should add I’m so spoiled by m mount stuff. I’ve got the Nikon 50mm 1.8 S and I’m almost appalled by its size. I saw the 1.2 and was shocked at how big it was. 😂

So I have just arrived back in Phuket, the two adapters that I ordered from Amazon have arrived already and they are the NEEWER NW-ETZ Auto focus lens adapter
K&F Concept NIK (G)-E

With these two adapters I can confirm that I am now getting the red square box turning green when in focus.........I also get the left and right arrows telling me which way to turn the focus ring to get focus.

Expensive but got nothing else to spend my money on so happy that I got them.........they also look cool on the camera

You might like "f/stops here" on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/@kaskoPhoto

I like how approaches gear. He's a Leica guy and uses CV VM lenses on his Zf.

I received my techart adapter today. So far, I’m very impressed. So I’ve got to ask: what’s the benefit of using Nikon autofocus primes over some M mount glass + the adapter?

I’m looking at the humongous Nikon 50mm 1.8 S next to my tiny 50mm Leica lens…

Do you have the Techart TZM-02? Which lenses do you use with it? How fiddly is the EXIF changing process (I think it works by setting some obscure apertures that then correspond to specific focal lengths)?

Agree that some Z lenses are quite big. Too big to my liking (the 50mm 1.2S for example). But comparing them to adapted M lenses with an autofocus adapter is a bit apples to oranges.. with the native lenses you get faster, more reliable autofocus (also with longer focal lengths, the Techart is limited in its range), full electronic integration and usually also better optical quality (no M 50 1.2 matches the 50S wide-open)…

When I consider why I choose to shoot a 50mm at f1.2 it is for rendering. I don't know how it will perform on the Zf but I will take the rendering of the Leica 50mm f/1.2 ASPH on an M sensor over the Nikon 50mm 1.2 S on a Nikon sensor any day.

That was not the question though.. the question was what the benefit of bigger Z glass is and there are definitely benefits. Whether one considers them relevant or not is a completely different topic….
