A small but imo significant difference would be that you could use the aperture ring on a native Z version whereas you have to use the command dial with the FTZ. I find the former a much more enjoyable experience but it’s a tough trade-off against the adaptability of F mount lenses.
Getting a F lens at this point is a fundamental limitation and I see it as a bandaid solution. FTZ is fine for what it does, but adding weight and fussing over which lens needs adapter or not is one more area I can screw up when packing. Ideally, I would like to phase out FTZ and F lens usage. Not the other way.

If you don't use F cameras or other systems that's fair enough. As I said nothing beats a native lens in terms of usability.
Personally I still like using DSLRs and having an OVF sometimes and I also shoot film on F bodies (and Fuji X, but rarely adapting Nikkors to them), so a Z-only lens is also a limitation.

I look forward to more Z-mount lenses being introduced by Cosina Voigtlander. On the other hand, I am not afraid of adapters, such as the FTZ, and am continuing to buy some few more F-mount lenses. Perhaps it is because I am left-handed, but I find a lens barrel and /or adapter, more so that the camera body, to be an ideal place to grip a camera/lens combo, if/when I want to walk or run, with one hand free to assist mobility. The small size of the Zf is appealing, because I do not prioritize a large area to grip the camera body, unless using a really large lens.
On a side note, this discussion is a reminder that I should not wait too long to acquire an F-mount CV 55mm f/1.2, because I suspect that it will not remain in the CV catalogue indefinitely, with so much buyer demand being directed at the other systems’ mounts. Some of my Nikon SLRs and DSLRs have plenty of life left in them, and will remain important, until age catches up with me.

I totally hear you. My point is that adding a native Z mount 90 mm would be a really welcome addition to the current lineup.

21/3.5 would be great for making a really lightweight kit. 21/1.4 is intriguing and images are beautiful, however with the weight, it makes it a bit less interesting in practical use. At the same time, either of them would be a great addition to the lineup. I am also interested in seeing lightweight 90 mm or 100mm before they fill more 25-35 mm range as short tele is a gaping hole in the setup. Do you think there is a possibility for short tele addition?
Luka
I think a short tele that would be smaller and lighter than 65/2 and 110/2.5 (E-mount) in the 75mm to 90mm range would make a lot of sense but Cosina have been slow to make one for the FF mirrorless systems. They did do a 75mm equivalent (50/1.2 APS-C) in X-mount this year as well as the new 75/1.9 VM though and I think they could well make something like that for Z and E and possibly for RF as well, or a new APO-Lanthar in that range. Hard to say if it's next in line but I think something like that could be in the pipeline next year.

I've been charging the battery through the camera so far, but now I added a second battery and I want to have something more practical. What battery charger works for the Z f?
I think the Nikon MH-34 should do it, but what about the Nikon MH-25a?

May I ask what grip is on your ZF?
It’s a Smallrig one, in Europe there was an offer from Nikon and sellers, you could get one free at the purchase of the Zf.
I like it quite a bit, it’s more than useful.

The MH-25a will work. That's what I use with all my EN-EL15's.

I tried the ZF with and w/o it. It is so much better with it.

Yeah, in fact I wouldn’t mind Nikon making a heavier one to add a little weight to the Zf and balance more easily bigger lenses. For the fun of it I’d like a grip with an lcd like on the f5 and some functions, a time stamp, why not, I miss those even in the ease of computer editing.
I might just be afraid of the price, hard plastic accessories without any tech are already quite pricey these days.

Just received the zf-gr1 from buyee on an auction I won. Paid quite a bit more than I should have lol but the process was great! (Considering I can’t read Japanese) Love the grip. Improves the handling for me quite a bit. I was trying to get used to the zf without a grip but found my pinky liked to sit below the camera and it created an uncomfortable hot spot. With the grip, it fits much nicer in my hand with my index finger on the shutter and the bottom 3 fingers resting comfortably on the grip. The grip is solid and matches the zf perfectly. Crazy that Nikon isn’t releasing this grip world wide. So far, I’m very happy with the purchase!!

Yep, 21mm 3.5 color-skopar or some 35mm - 1.4 or 1.5 on Z would be amazing.
