Oh my Scott! Just outstanding photography! The vibrance in just that 1 tree in #1 visually brightens the entire frame! All images are so very well done!
Congrats!

The color differences are insane, feels like a whole different place. My favorites are definitely the evening shots

Danpbphoto: Glad you like 1 and the single larch vibrance. It is my favourite of the hike. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

ar10: The evening (back lit) was way different than the morning (front lit over the cliff). My favourite is 1 as well. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Those shots are amazing! And I totally understand what you mean about seeing the Milky Way without light pollution. I went to Kitt Peak in Arizona when I was in college for a night viewing and it was spectacular! Really miss those dark desert skies now after living in central Texas for the past 23 years.

Monkeytoes: Sorry for the late response. I was in Houston for my daughters wedding. The night sky in a low light area is spectacular. We just need to get away from others and keep the lights off. Glad you like the shots. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Beautiful scenery from Canada and you as always, love em all.
.
Can imagine the milky way at night time when you were camping, almost a magical sight to see as I remember them well from elk hunting and taking pictures at nighttime in the fall.
.
How are you like that 8 camera ?

Karl Witt: Glad you like the images. It is a fantastic spot that I hiked into about 10 years ago and have held as a place I would go back to for sunset / sunrise with a FM friend. Glad you like the area. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Bill Gass: Glad you love the beautiful scenery. The Milky Way is magical from an open face in my bivy.

The r8 is a fantastic camera. Relative to r5 it does everything but 45mpx [arguably 1 slot and smaller battery too] and does more (350grams less weight, 2x the fps, and newer menu features. The only thing I don't like is 24mpx would be better at 45mpx, c1-c2 don't include c3, and mechanical is limited to 6fps. I think its better than r6ii (same sensor and 300grams less with different battery while being $1000 less.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Beautiful photos. Were these photos taken along the Cobalt Lake Trail?

Glad you like the pictures.

Yes, they were taken on Cobalt Lake Trail. It is a good trail but 900m in 7km with a pack is a puffer. You can go on to cobalt lake but I think the pictures are better from afar. The provincial park stops at the ridge so you can of go in and out of the park as you walk.

I bet it is. It reminds me of when I hiked Perley Rock Trail in Glacier NP. I thought the climb was never going to end.. something like 1250m over 6.5km. Also with a 36lb pack.

I have been to Alberta a few times over the last couple of years. I need to find places to go that are off the beaten path, and Cobalt Lake looks like a nice trail to do. Just worried about that 40km logging road with a rental vehicle.

It is a good place to go. And the hike to Conrad Kane is also excellent. The gravel drive is okay as long as you go slow and are not going on a wet muddy day. There are a number of good hikes in the area. I have a hiking book specific to Invermere area and the great thing about this area is that it gets very little traffic. One epic trip is Limestone Lake that I am looking to return to.

PM me when you want to go and perhaps - if you go slow - I will go with you or just provide advice.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Glad you like 3,4. It was a fantastic backpack trip, that reminded me of my growing age (900m used to be easier and down hill used to be really easy). Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Scott,

Fantastic photos. You inspire me with your willingness to endure physical challenge to capture such beautiful images.

I love #1 (along with the crowd), #3 (the interplay of orange on the back mountain with the yellow/orange trees in foreground is super cool), #6 (the foreground ridge feels so inviting to go hiking in, with the broader range in the background), and #7 (for the "be there" story of the shoot). Great job.

I hope your health allows for many more years of this kind of outing. Thank you for sharing it!
