POTN had a great run. What are some things we can do to keep FM alive and well? I haven't been active much here in the past few years, but plan on being way more active.
It's been a few months now since POTN closed down and we are doing just fine.
There were a lot of negative comments earlier in this thread about declining participation in POTN, social media taking attention away, and so on. Pekka also bemoaned the reduction in activity. It isn't true, folks. What was said was not so.
Forum participation is increasing. FM added 2000 members since the new year. Other forums are adding around 2 or 3 member a day. That growth is continuing today, months after POTN closed. Canon sales are robust and I think it's similar with Sony. Things are fine.
Go out and enjoy photography and don't worry about it.
First post here! I'm saddened that POTN closed down. I got involved there when I first got my Canon XT. Learned a bunch there and met some great people. Now I'm getting back into photography and looking for a place to ask questions when I need answers. I hoping for the best, so hello everyone!

Hello "PT" and welcome to FM. You'll find this is a great place to hang out, where a bunch of very knowledgeable people can help with any questions or concerns you might have. In the meantime, check out the presentation boards and add some of your work.

so I've just learned that Pekka has passed away and as sad as that is, it explains the sudden closing of POTN. he seemed like the kind of fellow who wouldn't disclose any personal information, so in that regard its not so much shocking but still unexpected.
