p.1 #1 · Fall Light over the Rolling Hills of Hirzel and Neuheim

Not far from home, and we are coming into my favorite season. This is a multi image stitch from a regular spot where I like to watch the light change. To the left is a thin fog coming from the valley and further away Lake Zürich. In the fall we often get lovely inversions and low fog in the morning as the air and ground temperatures change - and I always love the light that these conditions create.

Very nice. Love the soft muted colors and the sense of peace captured within these images.

Thank you IndyFab.

Your screen name wouldn’t be related to the name of a custom bike builder, would it?

Nice. I have a Ti Club Racer I built for randonneuring / endurance events. I got a tour of the Sommerville, MA shop when I put the order in... back in 2005. Made the move with us to Switzerland from Vermont but I don't ride much anymore - I started paragliding and that sucks up nearly all my free time.

In the local woods in gravel mode:

It is incredible. Still a beginner though, I've only had my license for a year - but I've flown in some pretty spectacular places this last year. I need to get better at thermaling - I hope to do cross country flights. A couple of my friends have been doing 40-60 and 100km flights this year.

I dont know if its the same thing for paragliding, but the Swallow Tail Kite are masters at rising to the thermals.

They wait till the sun comes up and warms, and off they go catching the thermals.

Swallow-tailed Kites spend most of their time in the air, capturing and swallowing their food in flight. Rarely flapping their wings, they soar and make tight turns, rotating their tail to steer.

Same for us - I have circled in a thermal with Rot Milano - Red Kites. Was pretty incredible.

Generally we do the same - wait on take off until someone brave launches, see if they go up, then launch and go to known triggers and try to climb. I am horrible when it comes to thermals though… Still learning.
