They should be both about equal in weight (~100g) without the tripod foot. Not sure what you mean about the mount/throat distance being janky, the physical dimensions and the flange difference of the mounts basically decides how wide/long the adapter will look like.
My copy of EF-NZ has no play and is about the perfect tightness on the EF lenses I've tried.
