I like your new friends, nice set Birdie. You seem to have got their attention too. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with from your new environment.

Welcome back and congratulations on the successful move!
Eric

Thank you very much Eric. I, too, am looking forward to just getting out and seeing what is to be found.

First... congratulations on your move and best of luck adapting to the change. Having just lost my wife of 32+ years, retiring, and prepping to move from MN to CA, I completely understand the challenge you just faced. I hope that your new location will serve as an inspiration for your photography.

Your deer photos are lovely, with the last being my favorite. The buck his handsome, nicely lit, and composed with some great habitat elements.
regards,
bruce

Bruce, so very sorry for your loss . I can not image all those events happening in a short period of time. Life is certainly full of change and challenges. I pray I can embrace them .

You do have a rocky back yard, and some nice visitors. Great photos of them, BTW. Now you will have the challenge of photographing about a million waterfalls within easy distance. Enjoy.

Thanks Stan. We are looking forward to seeing all the wonderful places in the area. I now need to up my landscape skills which are greatly lacking!

Enjoy your new home Roberta. Will you set up a new garden? Real nice images from your yard.

Morris

Hi Morris. I do miss my flowers. We will do something . My husband had to go a pick axe as the ground is so rocky and not much top soil at all. It will be interesting to see what we can do .

It may be difficult to see now, but along with trees and rocks come roots and foundation....embrace your new home and the guests that have come to visit. I know you will.

You are so right Eric and thanks for the reminder.

Congrats on the move Roberta. I know how difficult it is, especially having just done it myself and being one of those older folks you mentioned Beautiful subjects and what terrific terrain you have in your new digs. Enjoy your new home!

Greg

Thanks Greg!! Loving the new area, even if it is hard on the knees🙀 Building up strengthening the body for this new terrain.

Nice work on these, Birdie. We have a lot of rocks and hills here in Arkansas. Amazing what a raised bed of native plants can attract in the way of butterflies and hummers. Looks like you might need some deer fencing if you go that way. Good luck in your new environment.

Thank you Vic. Looking forward to finding some native plants that will attract the lovely flying critters.

Roberta,

So great to see you posting! We've missed you! Take a few weeks off from sorting boxes and looking for things you can't seem to find, and enjoy your wonderful new opportunities! MIA's usually show up a few days after you order the replacement!

Mary

Thanks Mary. Your comments made me laugh as they are so true!

Roberta,

Happy to see your back and you are well. The bright side you are close to family, but your beautiful Hummers will be missed, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

In the meantime, a wonderful set and beautifully done.

Chris S.

Much appreciated Chris, thank you. There are some hummers here , but need to get some plant’s to hopefully attract them.

I always found that moving was fun. I did so between various continents and then between countries and in the last 30 years between several towns and cities. Now staying within proximity of family members has become priority.
Your new backyard and subjects sound like a great change in environment. I like your new subjects. They seem to accept you as well.

Good luck in your new home.Don't know exactly where you are but in a good year
the smoky mountains look like they are on fire with the fall colors. So you might
want to scout out some good locations for shots. It all starts to happen in about 4
or five weeks. There are some websites that give predictions. Colors start at the
top of the mountains and work their way down.
Chuck

I am in the Waleska ,Ga area. You know I have never seen a color change. Looking forward to it.

Birdie - Great to see you posting a few images again. Congrats on your move. Love the deer, but what I really like is the beautiful background scenery. I bet you are going to get some fantastic fall colors. Can't wait to see them !

Greg

Not really done much landscape photography,so there will be a huge learning curve.

Hi Roberta, nice to see you're posting from my back yard! I can certainly relate to hurricanes being raised in South Florida and living in Puerto Rico for a couple of years.

For 23 years now I've been living 30 min. west-northwest of Atlanta In Powders Springs. Despite the tremendous growth here, I occasionally still see deer in my subdivision. Depending how far north you are don't be surprised to see some black bears too!

Enjoy the peace and quite but watch out for them winter storms! All wheel drive is highly recommended

Rolo

The area is so lovely. We are in the Waleska area. Can’t wait to see the leaves change and explore the area more.

Welcome back, and welcome back to your new home, Birdie! I'm sure there is some room for a flower garden, perhaps not as you are used to, but still wonderful (though perhaps challenging to keep the deer out!)!
Douglas

Thanks Douglas. Yep, will have to research what to plant in this area. The deer will be a challenge, maybe Imcan plant a garden just form them 😀

Well hello new neighbor! Welcome to the "right" coast and the mountains Birdie!
It looks like you have found a wonderful new home with fantastic neighbors and a fresh new chapter in your life. Let the stress fade away and enjoy a whole new environment full of new adventures and critters. I can only imagine what imagery you will be sharing with us soon enough with all the waterfalls near your new home.
We have plenty of hummers around so it's just a matter of time before you will be clicking on them again. Even though we are about 3 hours apart, just let me know (PM) if you have any questions of places to see or anything else regarding your new world.

Great shots BTW!

Stunning photo but most of all are the habitat that catch eye. I love how you tell a story then show the local is watching while you as guest. Tfs.
