I seriously doubt that it would be the case. I saved quite a bit by waiting for the A7r V for just a short few months. My major trip won’t be until Feb where the A7c R would come in handy for street photography. I am taking my chances but if that plan fails, I will take my A7r V and A1 on that trip.
I just got my A7R5 so I'll hold off for a bit. I like the idea of a smaller camera for a city and travel walkaround. I'm just not sure wether I like it enough to have that low res evf. So I'll wait to actually see one in the flesh first.
I'm interested in the a7c r but I'm leaving the country in oct. 2nd and won't be back till February so there should be a used one up for sale by then for a bit of a discount and I will probably pick one up then.

The camera is in Texas I am in the UK, shipping and import duties may mean, not a bargain. I can get a used one for 3199-3600GBp with no risk.
I’m definitely interested and thought the CR might be the perfect camera, but I’m not sure I can decide without first trying an a7r5 and an a7rc, or at the very minimum wait to see what this forum says about it.
The things I’m worried I’ll be unhappy about with the a7rc:
EFCS shenanigans
EVF resolution
Burst rate
Buffer
I want to carry a camera with me more places and I feel like the times when I’ve had a very small setup they have been my most productive and prolific.
My R3 suits me fine, and is versatile, but I opt to leave it at home a lot. The R5 is a substantial enough upgrade that I should seriously consider it. The CR is my dream format but the limitations for making it my only body are enough that it gives me pause. I’m going to wait a few months to see if I can get more answers. If it seems good enough, I’ll jump in and if it’s bugging me too much I can always add a second larger used body down the road.
That lo-res EVF will be brutal and deeply unsatisfying for me after falling in love with the view through my A7RV. But the small light A7CII with 33mp sensor would be perfect for city walks and Disney fun fitted with the featherweight Zony 35/2.8, so perhaps I’ll bite on a used one in a year or two.
Picked up photography as an extra hobby when I retired and I am getting more into it the more I shoot. Currently have the A7C which I like for many reasons but especially its compact form since I do a lot of hiking. Leaning towards upgrading to the A7CR for the increase megapixels. Perhaps thats a way not to spend money on a bigger telephoto for bear and wolf pictures in Yellowstone and just crop or shoot in APSC mode. At least for a impulse buy it sounds like good rationalization.

I replied no but can reconsider if option 'i buy used in 2 years' has been added.
I am interested in a smaller full-frame camera from Sony. But that pathetic EVF just kills any chance of me buying one of these. And yes, I am well aware of the reasons Sony uses to justify their decision to go with that inadequate EVF. But I’m not buying them either. They could do better. They just chose not to.

Last month I pre-ordered the A6700 from B&H on day one and it arrived on the first ship day. While putting in my A7C II/ A7CR pre-order today I notice the A6700 was not available and out of stock. If I buy one of the new A7C I’m not sure which so I’m hedging my bet. My A7C is up for sale and no matter which I pick I would consider putting both my A6700 and A7IV up for sale. I also have the A7RV but that is a keeper for me. Admit I’m leaning toward the CII but there was no survey option for buying but undecided on which.

Have you tried looking through the viewfinder? I’d reserve judgement u til going to a store and looking through the viewfinder. I still use my A6000 which has an even worse viewfinder and if all I use is AF lenses, I’m fine with it. Sure I’d love to have a viewfinder like my old OM2n camera…but one can adjust to just about anything. If compact size is a high priority, you have to make compromises. If compact size is not a high priority, then why even look at these compact cameras…you know they’ll have compromises compared to the larger cameras.

No, I haven’t. And since the nearest camera store that sells Sony cameras is more than 300 miles away from me, I’m unlikely to be able to look through one. But I can look through the viewfinder on my A7RIV and extrapolate. I am aware that my issue with the EVF isn’t shared by everyone. But this thread is a poll asking for my vote, and I vote no. Sony will have to do a lot better to get me to open my wallet.
All the complaints on the EVF resolution. If they don’t meet your needs look to the bigger Sony cameras which are on cameras bodies that are still smaller than most if not every DSLR I owned.
The new small EVF on the new cameras is a better magnification than on the original A7C. I have it on the A6700 to compare to my A7C.
I just bought the 6700 and a few lenses to go along with my A7RV and the more I read about all this than I think I made the better decision . Im out on these models, the 61mpx unit I had thoughts but they are dwindling fast. Im trying like heck to retire this stuff don't help.

0.7x is the same magnification as many of the popular full frame DSLRs such as Nikon D750 / D780, Canon 5D mark iv etc. So I wouldn't dismiss it as being very small. Given the target body size it seems like a reasonable compromise and much better than the 0.59x they had in A7c. I do wish they had increased the resolution though, to at least 3.6M. Its not a dealbreaker for me, but for a $3000 or $2200 camera, it seems like a strange cost cutting measure when much cheaper models have higher resolution EVFs.
I was ready to buy the a7C at launch but it really disappointed me at the time so I have been waiting for the mark II ever since, I knew they could fix it with minor tweaks, I'm just going to wait after the first batch gets out there and users reviews starts to come
After reading and thinking about every negative comment about these cameras (including the ones from a Pro), I preordered the all black A7CR from B&H - no hesitation, no second thoughts.
The reasons to pick this camera over a 6700 are obvious, but I understand how others might feel differently.

Feels like the A7CR is a no-brainer if you are looking solely at the 6700/CII/CR trio. It's the highest performing one that will give you the most in the long run.
$3000 is a sum of money, but it's like getting both 6700 and CII in one camera, and more.

Both yes and no if you have a A7RV. It’s probably a good backup/travel version but I admit I’m leaning more toward the A7C II with its lower output noise and AF performance to match the A7RV and completely replace my A7IV and A7C that I already have that I use with my A7RV.
