I pre-ordered the R. Hoping it arrives before October 12 since I have a trip to Europe, though I know that's the estimated ship date. If it doesn't arrive before the trip I'll probably cancel and wait to grab one used next year before any travel plans.
If I bought anything then the 61mpx makes far more sense and quality driven aspect of the C body. At this point im not but for others get the 61mpx version, it makes for a better deal. The 33mpx is way over priced IMHO

I read that at first as you will cancel the trip if the camera doesn't come

Kinda my point all along here you can even get one used for what maybe 3200. You get a hump though.
Its really a tough call for some because they want size more importantly than anything else and I understand that but feature sets is a different story

One appeared here for only $3000 so jump in.
I may buy one but not sure yet which one even though the 61 Mpixels is nice the improved low light of the A7C II atracts me as well.
If Im asked to start going into the office a few times a week, I may consider the A7CR or a used A7RV so I can do some street photography before and after work. I don't want to carry my A1 around all the time.

What’s the difference in carrying the a1 or the a7r5.

Used A1 is significantly more expensive than a used A7RV. I also have ran into situations where I forget to change settings back to my wildlife set up, resulting in me missing shots.
When I can buy a used A7CR on FM B&S for about $2100, I'll probably spring for one. Based on the steep depreciation curve for the A7R5 and A1, that shouldn't be too long.
I would see this camera as a backup body as I know I would not be very happy giving-up that spectacular EVF, 2nd card slot and those customizing buttons that I have become so reliant on with the A7RV and A1.
Just got an A7RV, so I'm not dying, but I'll likely get a used A7C R late next year as a backup camera. Hopefully it's around $500 cheaper on the used market by then.

There's no full mechanical shutter available. That kills it for me.
I ordered both because I couldn't decide. I will cancel one before they ship. I went to the B&H site at 10am sharp. I went to the a7CII page first but it wasn't available for preorder yet so then I went to the a7RC page and it was available to order so I did. Then I went back and ordered the a7CII. I think the a7CII is over priced while the a7RC is more fairly priced.
I currently have an a7C (which I will sell) and an a7RV but I use the a7C more often. I have about a dozen Sony lenses but I also like to shoot with vintage lenses which would probably perform better with the a7CII. I would probably be fine with the a7CII but I would have pixel envy.
