The Kingfisher Time Machine is a great way to go back to that time and place
You've got that right, Frank! That's so much a part of what I love of my "Rolodex" of pictures. That was one fine afternoon. Sad coincidence--later that year the state "improved" the reservoir, obliterating a substantial part of the habitat. Fortunately, the kingfishers still fare OK there.

I saw a number of these in a recent trip to Thailand but did not even try to shoot. Did not have best gear to try. Super great shots.
Thanks so much, Mark. Given the amount of time I spent there, I "was due". However, this possibility was way beyond my dreams so I'm super-lucky to have gotten them.

Kim - These are fantastic, I have never shot Kingfishers but I have heard how difficult they can be. You nailed these ! Really like the 5th image - Confrontation with male.
Great job!

Thanks Greg! These two alerted me to their presence for about 30 seconds ahead of getting these shots--just enough time to make sure I have my settings squared away. Truth is, I got very, very lucky that day.

Thanks Chris. I doubt it will ever happen again...but I've found another kingfisher hangout, and I never say never...
