Your approach yielded gorgeous results, Gary.

There's something to be said for eye-level shots vs pointing upwards.

Well done!

Thanks Kim. It didn't make a huge difference but definitely has a different look. It may have been just the light but I feel the gorget was more visible also.

Crazy ? Yay, crazy like a fox ! You can't argue with the results ! I always like to remind my wife... " I was smart enough to pick you " Just before planting a little peck on her cheek.

John

I'll have to try that one

Ha ! If she caught me sitting around the backyard in that getup that's probably grounds for divorce. Even after 47 years

Most excellent! My wife says the same when she is waiting while I'm doing a focus stack panorama on a hike.

I've learned if I'm going to hold up a family member it better be for something good. I've actually had her say to me; "that's really not that interesting."

Great shots, they are such beautiful creatures. I'd never seen photos of them perched on a random branch even - any idea why it likes that spot?

I have two feeders in the yard. The most birds I've seen at any one time is four. It appears to be the male, female, and two juveniles. This male sits on that branch which is about ten feet from one of the feeders. If one of the other birds goes for the feeder he defends that area by chasing them away. He almost always returns to that exact spot after the chase. That's how I was able to get the outstretched wings-landing shots. I sit there forever pre focused on that branch. When I see a blur in the frame I punch the shutter. They're way too quick when they land to tray to track. The other birds are able to feed when the male has gone off somewhere else. Pretty fun to watch
Appreciate your interest
