Is this a recent image Frank? The reason I ask is his afro.
Nice catch and I could do w/out his finger. But heh, it is photography!
Dan
Thank you Dan 29 and 29, last week. I still don't know why "the finger."

Dan, yesterday a photographed a couple to duplicate at 70 year old photo and the guy gave me the finger on the side.
My wife laughed and said "maybe people don't like you."
So, now I know.
Well I understand that emotion, come on, this is a street photographer not a medial person!
In the 1960's that could explain the gesture but now...wrong time wrong place.

It's just a general sign of defiance in this context I believe. Not meant to be directed at anyone to be offensive, more just a way of him being cheeky and controlling his own image in a situation where the photographer is capturing real moments rather than posing folks for portraits.
Cool shot, and I like his afro. I like the finger too, as I think it gives a glimpse into this individual's defiant / cheeky personality.

Thank you Dan I cloned the "finger" out of 25 other shots at his mother's birthday party, where I was a guest.

Thank you Daniel I liked the shot, didn't mind the finger. The next party is 10 years away.
Actually, his attitude changed when the young man moved to the "woke, he/she, politically correct borough of Brooklyn.

Now that you explained the party, it is even more offensive. But heh....that is what street photography is all about.
I should have modified my statement by saying , "age or IQ?" You answered part of my question Frank!
"Stay safe out there English(phrase from a movie w/Harrison Ford)"

That statement seems like lot to unpack...

Dan, I posted the finger/fro photo with the hope of beating Daniel Scott at his own game
