Would you mind elaborating on the different use cases for the 20-70 vs 24-70?

I think it makes more sense to carry small wide 15/17mm prime when I want a wide with the 20-70.
Also to me the size difference is not worth thinking about as neither lens makes the camera compact. I think the 20-70 is worth owning alongside 24-70gm because I see them as nearly completely different use cases.
Whether it's 20-70 or 24-120, the extended range zooms allow you to feel comfortable leaving other zooms at home and are great for outings with only 1 lens or when you would really like to reduce lens swaps.
A 24-70 2.8 is about 215g heavier and larger than the 20-70. If you were hiking with 16-35 and 24-70 you might find yourself actually using the 20 range a lot and swapping lenses or cameras gets annoying. To me the 24-70 2.8 is an ideal event lens, when you want that more pleasing background / speed and are okay with the weight. So to me 20-70 is an ideal hiking/travel/adventure lens but I'd choose 24-70 for any professional work for sure.
